Writing Christmas cards to person who has just lost a loved one?

Vikster79, 13 December, 2011 at 10:24 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I always feel so awkward writing a card when i cant write something "jolly" inside.

What do you put in a card when someone has recently lost a loved one just before Christmas. Have been putting it off, but thought you guys may be able to help.

Thanking thee.

    Dear X,

    Thinking of you this Christmas.

Best wishes for the New Year,

    Love Y.

I always put "thinking of you" or even just "with love". I also try and find a card that says "Christmas Wishes" or something similar, rather than "Happy Christmas" or anything jolly.

I have this issue too..I think I will put 'Thinking of you' or something. I also have a thank you card for this person and feel like i now need to re-write it.

I like the suggestion of 'thinking of you this Christmas'. Just enough and not too much.
