Unexciting sorry!

Just wondered if anyone had sucessfully sourced a tradesman form this site and how long it took after you placed that advert?

Cheers

I have used them several times and it's been great! The way that I have done it is to contact anyone who has responded who I like the sound of and then asked them to see the job in person as I want to make sure that they fully undertsand what is required.

I have noticed that I have had a much greater to repsonse to things like decorating, tiling which 'anyone' cna do - but fewer responses to things that are require licenses ie electrics. Responses ahve been very quick - usually half a dozen in first 24 hours

Not sure what the benefit of that site is.

better to get one from the relevant trade federation, or from trustmark. at least you know they ll have been vetted.

The tradesman may well belong to the appropriate organsiations.

The benefit purpose is speed & convenience- shortly after listing your job you have got a good indication of what the project will cost, but most importantly you will be dealing with trades that do that particular type of job, in your location and are wanting work.

Phoning lists from yellow pages, or trade lists you often find you can't get hold of the person or they might be too busy, don't do you area etc - it just shortcuts that process

Thanks Narisha. Will wait and see if any offers come my way. It's for some bespoke shelving so would need a joiner really - someone who can make my 4am 'fag packet' doodle a reality.

Nick - thanks for that, I'll certainly bare it in mind.

Anything to avoid a repeat incident of our recent cowboy plumber incident ☹️

sorry but "may well" doesnt cut it with me. Any good tradesman who is a member of his industry federation WILL be in demand. that demand will dictate that he will not have the time to be messing about on the internet responding to queries which may be a waste of time for him. the best place to get a tradesman is either a personal rec or from phoning/site viewing his trade federation. at least under trustmark if there is a problem the federation is obligated to deal with it unlike a rogue trader (like kat rowleys) who can just disappear.
