shell657, 4 February, 2012 at 10:51 Posted on Planning 0 6

This is my time scale for my day, is 7:30 too early for the evening do to start when it's a 2pm wedding?

The distance between venues is only about 1/2 mile & the beach where we're heading for photos is only a mile down the road.

3.00 p.m. Caterers ready to receive guests

3.15 p.m. Welcome drinks served

Bride & Groom may go for photos on their way back from the church

4.30 p.m. ish Guests are called to Dinner

Evening bar opens

7.30 p.m. Entertainment begins

9pm 1st dance

Thank you. Are you having a 2pm wedding aswell then Juppy2b ?

I just noticed i put evening bar opens at what ever time but the bar is going to be open on arrival of the guests, so i suppose even if guests trun up early & we're still eating our meal then they can prop up the bar for a while!

My photographer is basically going to be there all day

The photos take ages... Plus you have to allow time for people to faff around before leaving the church. I'm having majority of mine done at the venue so my timings are as follows:

    13:00hrs Ceremony

    13:45 -14:15 Photos outside church

(Approx 20 min drive to reception)

    14:45-15:45 Welcome drinks and photos

    16:00 Dinner

    19:00 Evening reception

    HTH!

Sounds about right, but depends a bit on how many guests you have, the more guests, the longer the photos will take and the longer the food will take.

I think your timings sound right, at least there won't be a lull. I went to a 2pm wedding but it was late starting by at least half an hour. After the meal and looooong speeches we went straight into the evening party bit which was about 7:30/8pm and it was just right, especially for us as we only knew the bride and groom.
