Hi there! This is my first post, as I joined today!

My fiance (that still sounds weird!) and I got engaged 2 weeks ago, and are throwing a few ideas around at the moment, starting to make plans.

We definatley want to get married abroad, and are so far planning (hopefully) to get married in Zante next year, either in June or September. We went on holiday there last year and fell in love with it, and we are going back this June. We stayed in Alykanas which is a beautiful part of the country, and we think this is where we would like to get married! The websites and brochures we have looked through mostly advertise weddings in Tsilivi and other ares of the island, which although lovely are not where I've set my heart on.

Has anyone used wedding planners based in Zante, and has anyone got any recommendations on how to organise all the little details that will make it perfect for us?

    Hi Rlola ?

I don't know much about the photographer either, but welcome anyway!

We booked about 19 months ahead, and it seemed like forever away. Now as we quickly approach the 8 month mark, and we've barely organised a thing. *whispers* I haven't even been dress shopping yet! ?

Good luck with the planning, we're here for advice whenever you need us (well, maybe ask someone a bit more organised than me, like Mazza!)

Has everyone sorted the certificates and documents out yet!

who is translating your documents, and have you got a reasonable price for this?

we have been told that we need to get our birth certs, cert of no impediment, any decree absolute if applicable, and something else i cant quite remember translated and take with us. we then have to send our marriage cert off when we return to be translated to English, all of this is going to cost us about 680 pounds?

    Has anyone else done this?

    happy planning x

Happy new year girls! Hope you all enjoyed yourselves and had good Christmases.

IT'S OUR YEAR LADIES. SQUEEEEEEEE! And 2013 brides - YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED NEXT YEAR - DOUBLE SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Angs, I'm soooooooooooo glad I'm not the only disorganised one! New year's resolution is to sort myself out! I have invested in a diary (with matching pen ?) that I've written important dates/appointments in, so hopefully I won't forget anything (unless I lose it, which could still happen!)

The legal bits/translations etc for us are being sorted out through our planner, so won't need to contact the lady doing it until 4 months before. I think we need to bring copies of Birth Certificates, divorce paper (Mr B's) with us when we travel in September.

Crisp I can't remember how much all this ^^^^ is costing us, but that was one thing we were willing to pay for, as we obviously want it to be legal!

So I have finally booked an appointment to go dress shopping, on Saturday! Eeeeeppppp!!!!

Thank you for your reply mrs BtoB!

Happy dress shopping, this is where the fun and frustration begins, enjoy.

Our paperwork doesn't have to be prepared till about four month before like yours, and i am more than happy to pay for this as its a load of worry out of our hands, was just wondering if everyone has gotten there's organized yet or not and do they know who is translating these or not?

    Have fun shopping x

You ladies have made me feel perfectly normal lol. thank you. Its the ticker......its giving me palpatations, 5 months 1 week????? My much more organised sister is coming to mine on Thursday to make a list in my diary. You sound a bit like me wondering if you will lose it! For the legal stuff we were given a name from Thomsons who deals with theirs so i need to contact them, I cant recall how much it was. i am also sending my passport tomorrow to get that renewed as it expires in August.....however hope i wont be charged again when i need to change my name on it when i return.

Dress shopping........awwwwww i loved that day! Do you have a style in mind? I loved them all but knew in my heart when i tried in THE dress.

I think sharing pics is a lovely idea! x

I've been eying up Grecian/lightweight styles, but not keen 'slinky' designs, so will have to wait and see.

Hello Rlola and Welcome ? I am not sure about Videographer to be honest, it's just included in our package. All I know is that they are from Zante Weddings... Sorry that isn't much help! Where are you getting married?

Hi angsoontobeorr: This year!!! I know!!! Can you believe it? No hen do arranged yet, what about you?

Hey Crisp1s: Our wedding planner is translating our documents for us. Not sure how much it is costing as it is included in our wedding package. I think *but i am not 100% sure* that they offer the translation service on it's own. They are called Ionian Weddings. I'm sure if you contact them they will give you some information.

MrsBtoB: MASSIVE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP for Saturday! You will love every single minute of it!! I am jealous, I want to do it all again. Please update us, with flashes! Pretty please!! Have fun.

Karenlisa: That is great idea about sharing photos.... We must all flash our ideas/plans too soon!

Happy New Year to all the Zante Brides! ?

P.S Is there anyone who wants to be added to our "wedding list" ???? Let me know!

I've only booked one appointment, and the lady I spoke to was soooooo lovely. Think I need to book more though, in case I don't find anything in that shop.

There will be LOTS of flashing coming, cos now Christmas is out the way I'm gonna go planning crazy!

Hi There! We've not payed the deposit yet/confirmed dates because there seems to be so much to choose from!! I think i am going for either Alexandra Beach Hotel or the Balcony Hotel as I want to keep it all in one place ceremony and reception Smiley smile I had a look at the link you put up to storystudios. do they do the photos as well as the dvd? there photos seem nice enough (im not a fan of so much photoshopping tho prefer classic wedding style) but i cant see any videos that theyve done?? I seem to need a password to get into their packages etc i guess ill get that once ive paid the deposit? any info u can give me abotu options they offer would be great Smiley smile im really worried about the dvd because my hubby to bes parents and lots of his fam wont be able to make the wedding as they live in oz and we really wanna be able to share the special day with them with video! im quite jealous of all of you 2012 brides, wish it was me!!!! photos of zante all look so amazing we r going out on holiday next year in sept maybe will get to see a wedding happening Smiley smile thanks for any info, all teh best with planning. Happy New Year ladies - here's to an exciting year for most of us!!

I can't believe it's less than 5 months to go until our wedding!!! I'm so excited but also getting really nervous about everything that needs to be done now. I've just arranged our appointment with the local registrar at the beginning of March for our certificate of non impediment so it's starting to feel very real now....eeek. We've asked Ionian Weddings to prepare the paperwork on our behalf which is costing £150 plus fees (translation, Consulate etc) and I'm just waiting to find out what the total cost of that will be.

So apart from that, we've got the wedding insurance, my dress, we've booked the holiday, sorted out the venue for the party/reception when we get back home but it still feels like there's loads to do and I'm starting to PANIC! Need to sort out dresses for my "bridesmaids", groom and best man's outfit (do any of you know what sort of outfit your other halves are going for...formal suit, casual, shirt and trousers?) Would be interested to know. My shoes and final guest numbers!!

Mrs BtoB, I hope your appt with the bridal shop goes well ?. I am going for a grecian style too with my dress and hair. I recommend Monsoon Bridal dresses if you don't find what you're looking for as that's where I got my dress from. The quality is really good and they are soooo reasonably priced!

Oooh thanks. I'm a bit nervous about it. I had a bit of a meltdown last night/this morning (my first Bridezilla moment!) as it looked like my twin sister wouldn't be able to come. Her OH is working and she had no one to look after her boys. But she got babysitters so we're back on track!
I've booked into one shop, and will have a look in highstreet stores if I don't find anything.

Mr B is planning to wear an linen trouser/waistcoat suit. He's told me I have to choose what he's wearing, so that's what I've decided! Ha! I'm thinking a lightish grey colour, with a white shirt, no tie. He's gonna look so cute!

    Hi Ladies

Great to hear how excited you are all getting about your 2012 weddings.

My OH is going to wear Linen Trousers and smart shirt not sure on colour yet maybe cream, although my son who is going to give me away is not impressed with this i think he thought he could wear he's swimming trunks!!!! (he is only 11 lol ).

Can i ask what everyone has done about wedding insurance, i've not thought about it until seeing it on here today. And who have you used?

    Thanks

    Karen

    Hi Ladies,

MrsBtoB I couldnt believe how many there were to choose from, definately recommend making a day of it. The Grecian dresses are beautiful.

Mica71 I have been trying to persuade OH to wear linen trousers, open shirt and flip flops but he is having none of it lol. He is opting for Grey Trousers, shirt and waistcoat.

Karen mine was booked though travel agent so is in with my wedding, losts of insurance companies offer it though.

Well tbh I'm not really sure what we had budgeted, but as my little bro has paid the deposit, I got my shoes free, and my Godmother paid for my tiara, I thought the remaining cost was pretty good. OH didn't seem to agree, but MEH!

Lovely shoes and free thats great news.

Just thought i let you all know i have set up a Web Page that my guests will be able to look at to give them information about the wedding and a map of Tsivili to show where Alexandra Beach Hotel is so if they wish to book another hotel or apartment they will be able to check that they are not too far away from The Alexandra Beach. Also they can RSVP us on there so we won't have to add them into our invites and no replies for me to lose aswell!! So impressed with myself i am so not a IT person but it was well easy as i found a site that does them for free and all setup. ?

    I went to one shop, it was the first one I tried on and the others just didn't compare! Although this one was a close second;

Was soooo much better on than in the picture - it's one of the Alfred Angelo Disney ones ?. I think I tried 6 or 7 in all.

My girl is much more practical for Zante, and soooo sparkly! I miss her already. Sigh. Just waiting for my brother to email me the pics of me wearing her, and I can look at her again (and of course, give you all a proper flash!)

It's all a bit scary - I know EVERYONE warned me when we set a date, but it's coming round soooooooo quickly! 8 months, 2 days ?

Was talking to Mr B the other day, and we're going to set up a 'meeting' at the dining room table, and sort out exactly what else we need to do. I told him I'll bring along a cocktail and he can have a beer. He said he wants a cocktail too! CHEERS!

ETA - forgot to ask, Has Mr Lucky decided on his attire yet?

Mrs BtoB - I LOVE your dress and think it's perfect for a Greek wedding. The other one is nice but definitely you've made the right choice. Funnily enough, I was considering the same shoes as you - they're very pretty, but I'm only 5'2" so am thinking I would be better off with a small wedge or heel.

KarenLisa - we got our wedding insurance through Dreamsaver and chose the Gold package. I looked at a few comparisons and these seemed reasonable. The cover includes recovery of costs on items paid for prior to the date the insurance was taken out which I thought was good.

So it sounds like most of the OHs are wearing linen trousers and shirt plus maybe a waist coat which is what my OH had in mind. My next question is: where are they getting their outfits from?? My OH is struggling to find anything that he likes. Any suggestions please ladies?

MrsBtoB.... Mr Lucky still hasn't decided what he wants to wear. He it too laid back !

I am hoping he will choose a linen suit or something like that. He wants to pick it on his own. I won't see it before the big day ?
