Hi there! This is my first post, as I joined today!

My fiance (that still sounds weird!) and I got engaged 2 weeks ago, and are throwing a few ideas around at the moment, starting to make plans.

We definatley want to get married abroad, and are so far planning (hopefully) to get married in Zante next year, either in June or September. We went on holiday there last year and fell in love with it, and we are going back this June. We stayed in Alykanas which is a beautiful part of the country, and we think this is where we would like to get married! The websites and brochures we have looked through mostly advertise weddings in Tsilivi and other ares of the island, which although lovely are not where I've set my heart on.

Has anyone used wedding planners based in Zante, and has anyone got any recommendations on how to organise all the little details that will make it perfect for us?

    Hi Stacey,

How's things going with you, how long now for your wedding?

I see you got all your certs translated ok lol.

Did you find out where to look for the newly decorated Alexander Beach photo's as in your post above? wouldn't mind a look at them myself?

    xx

oops sorry it was Karens Post above?

Hi ladies - just wondered if somebody would be able to advise on translations please.

We are organising our wedding in Zante ourselves with some help from our Greek friend. We have our appointment for the CONI tomorrow and will get further copies of our birth certs too. We're going to send them off to FCO for the Apostille but then we're not sure how to go about getting them translated!

Those of you who have already been through this, how did you arrange for the translation & who did you use please? I have had a quote from an online company (TLC) but can't find any reviews or anything & I'm a bit worried about sending all the docs throughthe post!

It's all a bit of a whirlwind as it's something we've talked about for a while but have just decided to arrange now for our holiday at the end of August which was already booked!?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi

    congrats ?

i have just done all my paperwork and i used androulla veliotou ltd this is a lady thomas cook advised i used her full comprehensive 10 day service

this ment i had to send her my CNI and birth certificate special delivery (cost about £17.00 and it gets there by 9 o clock the next day) she then get fco legalisation then she translates it all and then she gets the greek embassy to legalize it so it can be used in greece she does all this for you so all i had to do was send it to thomas cook she also does everything on its own to i have her number and address if you would like it she is not to bad on price mine cost with postage to her and her to send it all back and for me to send it to thomas cook (which you wont have to do) it was a couple of pence under £500.00 i also looked a tlc and i think the were a bit more not 100% sure

i hope you get it all sorted and i have helped it can all be abit scary to be honest but its all worth it ?

all the best with the planing if you need anything just shout if i can help i will

Hi - thanks for that. Funnily enough, trawling through the internet I found that translator through the Greek Embassy links & she has sent me some info.

Just waiting for confirmation of whether we can have the wedding on the day we want where we want it & then we can start making plans. Applied for the CNIs today so, if everything else works out, at least we will have them. Beacuse everything's still up in the air we just got them to put the place as Zakynthos, Greece so I'm hoping that will be ok!

Just have to sit & wait patiently for a bit now & it's not something I'm very good at - lol!

I know it is shame would have been nice to see as we've been talking on here. We are going to meet up with Francis while out there to go through some bits with her, which was nice of her to take some time out for us.

Must ask where have you seen pictures of the newly decorated Alexandra Beach area?

    Hi there,

Well, we're back to reality after having the wedding that we dreamed of. All I can say is that it was an absolutely perfect day and more than we hoped it would be. Ionian Weddings and Frances at Tsilivi Travel were brilliant in their organisation and planning.

We arrived in Zante on 25th May and a couple of days beforehand there had been a serious lightening storm so we were worried what the weather would be like on the big day. Although the first few days were a bit mixed sun and cloud by the Saturday, the weather was clear blue sky and sun - about 25 degrees.

We stayed at the hotel Meandros in Kalamaki and they organised the hairdresser and nail technician for me who both did a great job. Simon (my hubby ? ) stayed at his sister's villa the night before so we didn't see each other until the ceremony on Cameo Island. Our BBQ reception was at the Vezal Taverna so we could see the island from their terrace as the sun went down. The food served by the Vezal and the wedding cake were delicious and there was loads of it. We really couldn't fault anything about the day. I just wish we could go back and do it all again!!

My biggest tip to all of you (if you're interested) is to enjoy the day as much as possible and make a point of taking it all in. There's such a big build up and it's over so quickly so it's good to try not to stress too much (there really should be no worries that things won't go to plan) and enjoy your special day. A couple of people advised me to do that and I'm really glad they did - I have so many good memories of the day ?.

I hope this post is helpful....I will try and upload some photos soon.

    Michelle

Hi Ladies. hope u are all well.

Congratu;ations Mica, hope it was an amazing day. I have now been Mrs for exactly 1 week!! It was amazing. The Alexandra Beach was stunning and the food was amazing! My room at the Planos Bay was a bit small but the kids loved it! Can I just say that anyone using Wilburn are going to be over the moon. They are 2 of the nicest people i have ever met. The photos are amazing and i have no doubt at all that the DVD will be too. They caught absolutely everything and a lot of stuff that i didn't see myself. We were married only 2 days before we returned home but I had my pics and a 1st draft of my storybook to come home with. Julie the Thomson wedding planner was also fantastic. Nothing from any of them could be faulted! I also sourced a UK hairdresser out there who did my hair for 35 euros which i thought was fab! I am soooo jealous of u ladies with yours still coming up, please pack me in your suitcase!

I am currently having a massive argument with the bridal shop as they failed to pack my dress ties and lost a stone from the front of my dress when they packed it to travel. They would do well to take some tips from the Zante side.

    Hi,

All of you are getting me so excited for your weddings as i have to wait until next year. The good thing i get to hear all your lovely stories of your weddings especially at the Alexandra Beach as that is where we are getting married. I found the picture of the jetty painted i must say i think it looks much better not that it wasn't bad before.

Good luck to all those ladies getting maried soon - have a wonderful time & enjoy every minute! Many congrats to those who are now married - hope everything was perfect for you.?

We have just over 9 weeks to go now so we're ready to send the documents to the FCO before they go to be translated. Just a question for anyone who has a Decree Absolute? The wedding planner (Frances at Tsilivi Travel) has told us that the Decree Absolute should be signed by a Solicitor - however, we have seen a Solicitor & spoken to the Court who issued it & they both say it doesn't need to be signed & should be left as it is! Just wondered what others in the same situation had done? Having a panic now as everything seemed on track til then.

    Thanks.?

DIVORCE CERTIFICATE. Please make sure you get it signed and stamped by a solicitor as i had mine returned and had to pay postage, insurance and delivery costs AGAIN! I wish i had read the info as was only told i needed to get my divorce certificate, birth and letters of no impediment sent off.No info was told that i neede to do this.
