Hi there! This is my first post, as I joined today!

My fiance (that still sounds weird!) and I got engaged 2 weeks ago, and are throwing a few ideas around at the moment, starting to make plans.

We definatley want to get married abroad, and are so far planning (hopefully) to get married in Zante next year, either in June or September. We went on holiday there last year and fell in love with it, and we are going back this June. We stayed in Alykanas which is a beautiful part of the country, and we think this is where we would like to get married! The websites and brochures we have looked through mostly advertise weddings in Tsilivi and other ares of the island, which although lovely are not where I've set my heart on.

Has anyone used wedding planners based in Zante, and has anyone got any recommendations on how to organise all the little details that will make it perfect for us?

All birth certificates, letters of no impediment and decree absolute have to be sent of to be apostile stamped not sure if you know that as i never lol) make sure your decree is signed and dont listen if solicitor says you dont need to as the legalisation board sent mine back.Hope this helps.

Hi - initially we were told that the Decree Absolute had to be signed. However, a solicitor we spoke to & the issuing court said there was no need. On checking with Frances at Tsilivi Travel she said that it was so that we could keep the original as it was difficult to get copies & that it didn't actually need to be signed from their point of view. The court actually provided us with another 3 Decree Absolutes for free once we explained to them.

The birth certs, CNIs & Decree Absolute (unsigned) were all stamped by the FCO with no probs (literally a 24 hour turnaround) & we have since sent them by e-mail to Frances for translation - we take the originals with us when we have our pre wedding meeting. Presumably everything will go ok from here as we haven't heard that anything else is needed!

Hope that helps anyone else going through this stressful process!

    (6 weeks 4 days to go! ?)

    Hello all brides

I feel a little left out that I didn't join this forum ages ago but I'm here now & wanted to say good luck to everyone. I'm getting married on cameo island on 4th September 2012, also my twin daughters birthday. We are having our reception at the Alexandra beach & it looks wonderful. With some of us getting married so close together we could even bump into each other during our time out their. We are flying out on Thursday 23rd August & staying a week in a villa with family then moving on to the Eleon Grand Resort for our last week where other friends & family will be joining us.

We booked through the bridal consultants who are uk based but work alongside Francis in Tsivili. We went out to see her & cameo island & our hotel last October & it was all beautiful. We got the chance to see a wedding taking place on the alexandra beach jetty which looked great. Can't wait to come round the mountain on the horse & carriage.

Its all so exciting & just cannot wait now, plus so in need of some sunshine & a holiday after our crappy summer so far.

I have my final dress fitting next week & can't wait to have that. I'm taking it in my hand luggage & as I'm flying with easyjet their is no weight restriction just as long as it is the right size hand luggage.

One of our last jobs now is sorting ut our music & greeting all our songs onto discs. Its been so Lovly reading all your messages and reading all your progress.

Look forward to hearing ore from you all

    Love Kirsten x x
