Hi there! This is my first post, as I joined today!

My fiance (that still sounds weird!) and I got engaged 2 weeks ago, and are throwing a few ideas around at the moment, starting to make plans.

We definatley want to get married abroad, and are so far planning (hopefully) to get married in Zante next year, either in June or September. We went on holiday there last year and fell in love with it, and we are going back this June. We stayed in Alykanas which is a beautiful part of the country, and we think this is where we would like to get married! The websites and brochures we have looked through mostly advertise weddings in Tsilivi and other ares of the island, which although lovely are not where I've set my heart on.

Has anyone used wedding planners based in Zante, and has anyone got any recommendations on how to organise all the little details that will make it perfect for us?

We're all booked into the same hotel, at the mo theirs me and OH, his 2 daughters, my sister with her OH and their 2 babies, and my mum my bro and other sis. I have requested that our room isn't too close to all of theirs! I'm sure my mum will have something to say about it but hey, we will be newlyweds ?

I know the woman who booked us all and she's managed to give us all some pretty hefty discounts. Oh, and she said there's only 2 rooms left in the hotel with just over a year to go! Mad!

    Hi Lovely Brides to be,

I'm off to Zante first thing on Saturday morning (that has come round so quick) im not gettting married for another 9 months yet, but me and Mr Pickles thought we'd pop over there for a week, to catch some glorious Zante sun and also to sort out the following:

Florist / Photographer / DJ / Wedding Theme and all the extras / cakes / car seats and transfers for guests / fireworks / sky lanterns / storing stuff for us

If there is anything any of you girls would like me to look into for you, I shall be checking your updates on my phone...over the next few days but alas i'm not taking it with me. BTW my lovely Zante travel agent, has just booked 24 of us into the Gloria Maris Hotel, with a 10% discount, and at this years rates!!!! I'm so happy, as this has saved so many of us and absolute heap...if you want to see if you can get a discount at your hotels, her name is Debbie and she is absolutely lovely English lady that's living over near Laganas.

Theres only 11 of us booked so far, my mum and her friend and OH parents are definately coming but are waiting a little longer to book and as we have gone all inclusive they are going to stop elsewhere, everyone else is still undecided because of money but we understand that and thats why we are doing the party when we return (plus I get to wear my dress again!!) this time next year we will be there and only a few days away from our wedding!!

    Hi luckylola,

I like the new name ?

Only 5 days to go until we're there...I'm so excited! We've managed to get an appointment with the wedding co-ordinator next Saturday so hopefully it will start to feel like things are moving along.

We've been looking at lots of forums on Zante and Trip Advisor but any recommendations on places to eat/visit are gratefully appreciated ?

This forum is getting so popular now. I can't keep up with it! It's lovely that we can all talk to each other and swap ideas. It's so helpful. Some of you sound so organised but I'm sure things will fall into place at the right time.

We're going to hire a car for a couple of days to check out hotels/apartments in other resorts as some of our guests have different requirements. We also want to make a decision on where to have our reception as we've chosen the bbq option but haven't chosen where yet. I can't wait to pop over to Cameo Island to see where the wedding will actually take place.

Hopefully we'll get time to relax and just enjoy ourselves too lol.

    Mx

P.S Try Crystal Beach Hotel (Kalamaki) for a lovely meal. It's set right on the beach and over looks the sea.

Also, Diaz (Kalamaki) is nice too. O' and the Olive Tree! (Kalamaki again!)

    Have fun!

Hi Everyone hope your all doing ok?

Hi Crisp1's welcome to our club, I see your getting married in july 2012, which date?

Haven't been on for a while because not much been happening really just buying the odd thing here and there, but MrsBtoB my dress came last friday the one I ordered off the internet and I have to say it arrived bang on time just like they said! Although I wasn't that impressed on how it was packaged just like if you ordered something out of a catalogue, but now the creases are out of it I am pleased, well worth the money to be fair and custom made so fits quite well really, just alittle tweek! So now I can order my tiara and jewellery - yeah!! But gonna have a well earned rest first as we are off on thurs for a week in spain visiting my parents, but shan't be going without the latest issue of 'wedding ideas' for some beach reading.

Oh my god I lurve Jimmy Carr! He's hilarious!

No dress yet. I need to have a trying on session before I make up my mind. Think I'm gonna do an internet cheaper one, just need to find a style that suits. And lose some weight. Hmmm. I need to try and curb the Haribo addiction!

Fab news about the dress. Did you try some on in shops first to get an idea. Think this is gonna be the next thing to do for me. All I've bought so far is 6 jars for the sweety buffet when we get back! ?

    Which website did you use?

    PS FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha nah I didn't bother doing the shops thing for a few reasons really 1 because my mum lives in spain and it would have made it a bit difficult for her to join me, 2 when 1 of my m8s got wed a few yrs ago we must have covered every shop up and down the local area which just became tooo much really so didn't want that hassle (lets face it there's enuff to do as it is) and 3 even though there are so many lovely dresses I knew that I really needed something fairly slim and small fitting because of the heat in greece at the end of july. So just looked on lots of sites on the net. In the end I decided for safety sake really to buy off ebay because you are covered if you pay with paypal and use a seller with high % feedback & the choice and cost is unbelievable!! There are sellers in the UK and plenty overseas mainly China and you can either buy a standard size or give you measurements for a custom made dress. I used a seller from China called Frank-lsg88 and was very impressed with the service each time I emailed them with a ? he replied later the same day reassuring me not to worry and like I said the dress arrived within the estimated dates stated, like pretty much nearly all the buyers said who left feedback. There's just a few tweeks that need doing and once they are done i think i will be 100% happy, but I've now got plenty of time to do that and for the money can't grumble really, just ordered the dress early incase it wasn't right and needed to look for somethingelse. I ordered the dress on 7th july and received it 2nd Sept! If your still interested in net buying take a look on ebay the prices are cheaper than the other websites - ridiculous really and some are copies of well known designers, just read the feedback reviews that previous buyers had put on if your not sure to help you make up your mind. Worth a look! Not sure a pic will do it justice but its a halter neck style satin with lace all over, i have put a review on so if you have a peek can see the piccy.

    WOW! That's a stunner!

Budget wise, it's got to be an internet one for me (not sure I wnat to wait for January sales, even then they will probably be too much!), it's just biting the bullet and choosing which! Eeek!

Thanks for the welcome ladies! i am loving reading all about your wedding plans sounds soooo exciting.

Mazzab have had a sneaky peak at your wedding dress it's beautiful, do you keep trying it on all all the time, i would?

We are getting married on the 12th July. I have only booked the venue and have a few favour's at the moment, although i have tried on a few dresses in a bridal store but the prices are way over the top for my little beach wedding.

I have thought about buying on line but like others i am so worried it wont be what i expect and will i get ripped off! Its good to know you have bought and received your dress and it's everything you where expecting it to be, will have to think again and look on line.

look forward to reading how everyone is getting on,

    christi?

Crisp1s I don't think I've actually said 'welcome' officially yet! Random fact - your name is the same as my twin sister, although her's has an E on the end!

Well done Rachel. You're so much more organised than me! I think you might be due a flash of things so far! ?

So girls. I'm planning what to do with my time off next week. I've got Monday and Tuesday off work. Tuesday is our 1 year mark, so I thought I should start concentrating on the planning a bit more! Monday I'm off to Asda with my friend to buy jars for the sweet buffet, then we're gonna go to pizza hut! Ha! Tuesday I'm going for a facial. So far I have decided to also 'research' dresses, shoes and sparkly things online; buy pretty scrap/memory books and things to make mood boards; and do more online research for sparkly things. What do you reckon?

    Hi,

We're getting married in Zante in July 2013 and planning to marry at the Alexendra Beach Hotel - and wondered if anyone booked to get married there through the hotel, as we're also considering to book it through Tsilivi. Any help appreciated.

    Hi KarenLisa

I decided to go with Frances as everything is done for you all the paperwork and legal stuff in the UK and in Greece. Frances has various packages starting at £1500 to £6500 it all depends on what you want you can just have a ceremony with a few guests and a quiet meal or go for the whole works dressed chairs for the ceremony bouquet buttonhole reception disco/band/greek dancers fireworks, horse and carriage, hair and makeup etc photos dvd and what type of food, sitdown or bbq etc wedding cake and champagne. I havent picked my package yet as I'm waiting to find out numbers you pick a package and then add/or take away things and Frances gives you a price I'm looking to get a price about January time so if you can hang on I can tell you what I'm having the amount of people and the price then honxx

    Thanks for the welcome ladies!

I have had a desaster with my wedding dress!

Reason for this, My sister and niece are both getting married next year, My sister is getting married 28th July and my niece is getting married 25th August, i have seen my nieces dress we chat about plans and ideas, but not my sisters as everything she does is all cloak and dagger (big secret) and there is a bit of competition between them both(they keep changing dates so one is having there big day before the other!!!

Because we are getting married abroad so we didn't think our plans would interfere with any of the others, however..... getting back to the dress, i brought my dress home this wk end and tried it on at my parents house, my sister flew into a rage screaming shouting, you cant ave that that's the same as mine ive had mine for ages blah blah blah huge who ha and stormed out. s

So when calm was restored i went to her house next day and we finally talked and she showed me a little picture of her dress, her's, granted they are very similar only difference her's is white mine is ivory just under bust area i have what looks like 2 pleats going high on the hip and around dress, the material on her dress on hers is more gathered and is silk, the beaded detail on bust on hers has a few more diamante than mine.

Now i understand where she is coming from and have to say that this is my second wedding my partner and i have been together about 21yrs and have children from previous marriages, my partner want's us all to become one family and just want's us to be finally married, which at first i thought he was loosing the plot , but quietly i am really pleased about this.

It's both my sister and niece's first wedding and they are younger than me. Initially my partner and i had thought we would have a small wedding on beach (just him and i)no fuss and no one would come so ours, but once we told people that all changed big surprise.

To cut a long story short i have decided to see if i can return my dress, which i think may not be possible although the dress has not been altered or anything, in that case i may have to sell it, as all the (family) guest's are going to be both wedding's as a lot are traveling with us.

Sorry about the long story xx
