Hi there! This is my first post, as I joined today!

My fiance (that still sounds weird!) and I got engaged 2 weeks ago, and are throwing a few ideas around at the moment, starting to make plans.

We definatley want to get married abroad, and are so far planning (hopefully) to get married in Zante next year, either in June or September. We went on holiday there last year and fell in love with it, and we are going back this June. We stayed in Alykanas which is a beautiful part of the country, and we think this is where we would like to get married! The websites and brochures we have looked through mostly advertise weddings in Tsilivi and other ares of the island, which although lovely are not where I've set my heart on.

Has anyone used wedding planners based in Zante, and has anyone got any recommendations on how to organise all the little details that will make it perfect for us?

Hi you may not be able to take back to the shop or send back but you may be able to recoup some cost and sell on line but be prepared i think you will be lucky to get half the cost back!!! I had a good look at dresses on ebay and wedding sites and there was some lovely dresses brand new for half price but i decided to get a new one from a shop. Hope you dont lose too much money.

My partner and I have been together 6 years we both in our 40s and i've been married before I have 3 kids from my first marriage and we have a baby together, so we decided to go abroad as I didnt want a great big wedding and my partner didnt want to hve a registry office wedding.

We also thought it would be a lot cheaper!!! not so I'm up to about 10k god help me so i'm hoping to cut this down!!! the other half will have a fit but we have got all inclusive holiday with that LOL

I really hope you dont lose too much money on your dress and you find something else you love as much you can advertise on here as well as ebay also preloved is quite good.

    Hi Rachel,

I expect not to be able to take the dress back to shop, but had hoped they may let me pick another or replace it with something else, am being open minded an keeping my fingers crossed, if i get a good third of the cost back it would be good.

The dress was a shop sample not even been altered yet as i bought it strait from the shelf, the bridal shop didn't do alterations in there and i was recommended a good seamstress, i bought and paid for it there and then. (fool).

We were initially going to book and pay for villa in cypress and say to the kids just get a flight and join us there, but as soon as we told them everything changed. They are all grown up so i guess it was a good excuse for a holiday ?.

I have to ring the shop t'moro as the manager is out of store mon, tues, so fingers crossed will see what they say?

    Thanks christi x

Oh thats news you could do without hun, but you never know they might let you swap it for something else being as it hasn't been altered. But like you said with the dress being so similar there isn't really much else you can do unless you go ahead and possibly cause a rift, but then that wouldn't be practical really. If they can't help have a little look on ebay, i bought my dress off there and am happy with it, so its worth checking out!

    Good Luck!

I phoned the shop this morning and spoke to the girl who helped me with my dress, she then spoke to the manager and to my surprise they said, ordinarily they would not refund or exchange any dress but given the circumstance they would be more than happy for me to choose another dress.

Well you can imagine my surprise when they said this, i didn't think for one minuet i would be able to return it but this was a bonus.

I shot down the shop today and they where great very understanding and helped me choose another one which i lurve, now there is no going back no matter who has a similar one.

Thanks for your support ladies ?

Hi Karenlisa and welcome to hitched!

We are getting married in Zante on 5th September 2012. I have been to Zante a couple of times. I have visited Alexandra Beach Hotel. It's lovely.

We have booked through Ionian Weddings, here in the UK. They work with Francis from Tsilivi Travel over in Zante.

Any questions, just ask. We are a friendly bunch ! ?

It was lovely thanks. Soooo relaxing! Seems like forever ago now!

I had lunch with my mum on Saturday and sh's starting to get a lot more involved - she wants to got to wedding fayres etc, and come dress shopping. I've told her only if she doesn't keep telling me how fat I look. Ha ha. Mum's hey? She's also said she wants to pay towards the dress and so does my little brother. Bless him. So the dress budget has just got bigger! Woop woop!

Now trying to find the time to start planning properly. God know's where I'm gonna start!

How are your plans coming along?

This is like my dress, i can't find a picture of it on line sorry, It is a Hilary Morgan Dress, and it has a detachable shoulder strap that has similar detail as you can almost see on the bust area, flower's and diamontie's, this is my scribble version of the strap lol as this picture does not show it, i purchased the strap separately.

I have scribbled the name of the company who are doing this copy of it, (this picture) because i cannot find an exact picture of mine.

Will try and take an photo of mine and post it?

I hope it looks as good on me, ?

    Thanks for looking x

    Hey MrsBtoB,

Plans are still the same really. Got the dress, booked venues etc. Chosen colour scheme, sent out invites and information packs. That's about it really.

Still waiting to hear back from people, so still not sure of the numbers yet.

That's great news about your Mum getitng more involved in the planning. Even better news about the budget increase for the dress !!! ? Any ideas what dress you will get? What styles do you like?

I think we will do some sort of invite, just so guests know where and when the party is. I was thinking of having very simple and informal. I am thinking of using the same style that I used for our Save the date cards.

We had these as our STD's, (the ribbon was hot pink). Will probably use the same thing again but change the wording. That way it's not a formal invite and will (hopefully) save us some money!

    Hope that makes sense?

I've been looking at Grecian style dresses and have got a few in mind, but gonna have to try them on and make sure there's no arm pit fat!

I'm planning to make our own invitations. I've got a few ideas in mind, but I'm not majorly arty/crafty (depsite having worked with children for the best part of 10 years!) so I might give up on that when I get going.

?Good luck on the diet planning! I've been planning mine too. All that thinking about healthy eating left my blood sugars low, so I had to have a Mars bar!

I've been doing Jazzercise twica a week, which really helped when I first started. But I didn't diet with it so I haven't lost any more (or put it on which is good!). We're about to start a Sunday morning class too, which will hopefully kick start the weight loss again!

Hi everyone! I've joined the forum today. I am booking my wedding next month with the Bridal Consultants. Im hoping it will be sept 2013. It seems so far away! I'm looking at having the ceremony on Alexandra Beach and having the reception the too. I can't wait! Although it's 2 years away I tried a dress on over the weekend! I was sorted pushed not as I was there to try on bridesmaid dresses for a family wedding next year. I've ended up falling in love with the dress but it's way too soon to order isn't it?! Shell.

    Hi and welcome.

I am fairly new to this forum, everyone seems really friendly.

We are getting married in July 2013 at Alexandra Beach. We was going to book directly with the Hotel as we went out there this August and met Maria who arranges their weddings. She was great and really friendly but unfortunately since we came back and have been emailing her about bits she has taken ages to come back to us, so we are now thinking about booking with Tsivili Travel.

    Have you been out there?

I'm not even thinking about my dress as i need to lose weight first!! lol

    Karen
