Is the famous turtle beach close by or easy to get to ?

    Hi

We have stayed there, about 5 years ago now when it was brand new.

There are a few bars/restaurants in Alykanas and there is a nearby village (name escapes me now, sorry) which is a short beach walk away or a horse and carriage ride.

We didn't so any sightseeing when we were there, I was only 18 so i wasn't interested in sightseeing at the time!

The hotel itself is fantastic, pools, rooms, bars, everything is just great!

    Enjoy!

We went there in Aug04. It was a pretty quiet resort although Alikes (town next door) was busier. We didn't see any turtles although went on a turtle/shipwreck all-day island cruise - it was good but there wasn't much shade on the boat. Alykanas was good for relaxing but there were very few Greek ruins, monuments or mosaics nearby which was disappointing. We caught an early morning ferry to the mainland and went to Olympia though which was fabulous - the ancient track, sculptures etc were amazing. I agree with Royalty - the Greedy Greek is good.

We went in 07. The hotel is lovely if you have children, we didn't! There's plenty of activities for children within the hotel and there were lots of parents with babies, toddlers and children. There isn't a great deal to do within Alykanas, more restaurants than bars but Alikes is a bit busier which is only a walk away.

It's very quiet, but I guess that's what you want when you have little ones. They have a loud microphone which starts about 10am which isn't great if you're suffering from a hangover! There's a little shop on site which is reasonable and they have 2 pools. One for swimming in and a paddling pool. The sea is about a 20 metre walk from the hotel. The beach is lovely, sandy and shallow.

The hotel has events on a night and it has a downstairs room, if I remember rightly for party nights for the children. There is a bar on site.

We didn't do any trips as we spent most of the time on the beach.
