I noticed on another thread that you're a teacher. Me too! We considered a spring wedding but the local authority don't bring out 2016 term dates until later this year and I was too impatient and wanted to book our venue, so we have gone with August as a safe bet that I won't be at work. Happy planning!

Hi I-go-by-many-names! I am indeed for my sins! I'm a secondary French and Spanish teacher. Are you primary or secondary? we went for spring as I didn't want to wait until the summer and 2015 would've been too early for the pennies! We managed to get hold of the proposed term dates for 2016, so we're hoping they stick with them. I might be moving to another local authority before 2016 too, so it's a bit of a gamble!

Church booked, although as you'll see from another thread the times may change. We've viewed 2 reception venues, and have another tomorrow evening. Not thinking about dresses/colour schemes yet.

I I can't believe it's April already! Less then 2 years for some of you now !

we've not done much at all, were off the Lancashire wedding show on the 26th though. Hoping to get some good contacts for local suppliers. Apart from that I'm getting quite a collection of wedding magazines, Eeep! My expensive magazine habit switched from Tatler & Vouge to Brides and all the others! Haha!

All these teachers! Unfortunately I am yet to break up for Easter, we have strange holidays. I am secondary RE. It's great that you have managed to get term dates already, my deputy head looked at me like I'm bonkers when I asked if they knew them for 2016.

In response to LiverpoolB2B- Our planning has pretty much come to a halt. We have our venue and registrar secured, all the rest can wait until we have more time and money! Still enjoy hitched though for my wedding fix :-)

Very small world indeed! I am nuts and I'm doing my French AS level at the same time as teaching, and Ofsted are also due in May! I totally shouldn't be on here but I am! It's not procrastination because I am getting things done - I'm getting wedding planning done! Far more exciting.

I'm really not sure how we managed it. My Mum is in HR at another local school and got hold of them. Top woman.

We've booked and paid deposit on our venue, and went for our menu tasting yesterday. All so exciting! Ive chosen my bridesmaids and we have a guest list.

Is anyone else fed up with the "you have ages to go, why are you starting to plan now?" comments? We are paying for roughly 75% of the day (plus contributions from both sets of parents) so we need time to save. My usual response is "I only plan on doing this once, so im going to take my time!". (I hope i havent offended any 2nd/3rd etc time brides - not my intention at all lovely ladies xx)

Can i join in the planning excitement please?

I've been hooked on forums since i got engaged in September, this one has finally got me to join & post! We get married 05/03/16. Booked and paid venue deposit in October, they were brilliant with us booking so far in advance & the 2014/2015 10% off final bill offer for March bookings is written into our contract so chuffed with that saving! I'm a bridesmaid for my best friend next May, and for the last few years (we've been together 6) i've had 2016 in my head as our year anyway (its our anniversary, just happens to fall on a Saturday) so 2016 made perfect sense!

Apart from the venue we've got a photographer booked...but only because my husband to be happens to be one haha! So that was his job to sort, a friend photographer is doing them for us. I've started experimenting with invites, cause i'd like to make them myself & it'll take me ages to choose a design then make them all. I plan on starting dress shopping in Sept, once i've been on holiday (hopefully ill have lost a few pounds for my bikini anyway)! My mum got very excited and already has her Mother of the bride outfit lol. We have colours - pale lavender, pinks & blues and we've chosen a tartan. I'm pretty sure i've chosen our florist and if we book this year we get this years prices then pick later so we'll be doing that! I'm a complete bargain hunter, although we're not on a tight budget as such I'm determined to get the best deals I can!

Glad to see i'm not the only eager planner! I'm excited now cause this thing told me its only 697 days to go!

No but my groom is from Essex, does that count? ? Yes I am definitely fed up with the 'you have ages to go...' thing, and the fact that no one seems interested in the wedding as 'it's ages away.' We also wanted time to save as we'll be paying for all of it and having 100-120 guests at quite an expensive venue. Plus the fact we are renovating a house. Skint isn't the word!

He was born in Beckenham, London, but grew up in Harwich.

I have now chosen and started paying for my dress and my bridesmaid dresses absolutely love them.

Yep, got my dress in January, will come in between the summer and September. Im saying september in my head though so if it comes in before then its even better. Im sure you will all hear me squeak with excitment when it arrives. I so can't wait to go back and try it on again. I'll hopefully get my friend to take a pic so I can flash it properly (ha, wont ask my mum as she'll end up putting it on facebook, te he he, she can't hold her own water).

Not decided on bridesmaid dresses yet though. I'm only having 1 adult bridesmaid the other 3 (when 2016 comes around) will be 10, 8 and 4. so think will wait a bit to get them.

Sorry, did you tell us what dress you have gone for?

How is everyone getting on? I feel we are not making much progress any more. Is it ok to start buying things? (Have brought a few things) but I'm worried I may change my mind about the things I like now. Does anyone else feel like this.
