Welcome all that have joined since I last came on. Nothing new for me. We start saving next month and will book registrar then. Am planning on buying a china made ebay dress just before Christmas (done my research) as the styles will be changing I bet!

Planning on going fake flower shopping soon to start on the bouquets and buttonholes - am DIY'ing them. Will start Save the Dates after Christmas probably and send out 12 months or so before.

We are only doing plus ones for people that we know enough. Nearly 18 months to go!

Hi everyone,

I'm recently engaged and planning for April/May 2017. Nothing is confirmed yet but we'd ideally like the 29th April (I see someone has already gone for that date here, hope I'm allowed to get in on that too haha).

Currently having a bit of a struggle to find an appropriate church - slightly clutching at straws with some of the qualifying connections, but I'm sure everything will fall into place soon (fingers crossed)!

Hi everyone! I've been engaged for just over a week! Still feels a little surreal, but I'm getting used to it

We're thinking of 2017 - no date yet, in fact we've not even decided on a month yet! Our first priority is buying a house together, but I'm itching to start planning for the wedding!

Edit: We've decided on a date! 23rd September, same date we got engaged

I went to the National Wedding Show in Londonnyesterday. It was great. I found and amazing videographer and florist/venue stylist. Hoping to book the videographer soon.

I have confirmed my photographer, just waiting for him to send me the contract so that we can pay our deposit. How is everyone else getting on? X

Upto now we have booked church, venue and photographer and then today we went out for a drive and saw a sign for a wedding fayre and thought we may as well pop in and ended up booking our wedding car...super exciting!! I've got tickets for the national wedding show in Manchester in a few weeks so hopefully I will get some more ideas! Next on the list is Dj or venue dresser I think.

Planning is going well. OH has his suit and shirt, and I'm pretty certain I've found my dress. A shop locally is quoting me 10% off if I buy it this month as well! I tried it on with OH and we both adored it, then I tried it on again with my BM when I visited her. She wasn't keen at first, but as I was trying on other dresses she found she was comparing them to that one, so I tried it on again at the end and she agreed that that is the one. Now I just need to try it on with my Mum and get it ordered ?. The shop I visited with my BM put a gorgeous fur bolero with it as well which just looked so glamorous, and I'm debating ordering one nearer the time, in case the weather is cold.

We had a look at BM dresses as well, and think we've decided on a couple of possible style and colour options. I need to try to get all of the girls together to go shopping properly, though.

MadamRed - I think I got missed! Planning for the 23rd September

Has anyone got any advice for British-Indian weddings? I want to incorporate traditions from both cultures, but I'm really not sure how to do it. I'm currently thinking along the lines of late morning/early afternoon white wedding ceremony, followed by a mid-afternoon toast and nibbles, and photos. Then changing into Indian dress and going on to a Hindu ceremony, and then dinner/reception. I'm pretty sure I could handle planning the first half of the day, but MIL2B would have to be my guru for the rest as I wouldn't even know where to begin!

We are very organised, I think. Chosen our colour scheme, putting the deposit down on the venue, deposit put down on the dress, bridesmaid dresses picked, suits picked etc.

I went to a wedding fair the weekend before last and sampled an amazing cake- so I know who is making my cake now!

Also chatted to a couple of photographers- one I liked his work, but wasn't as keen on him, he was a bit too 'touchy feely' and flirty for my tastes, and another whose work was fantastic and I liked but I wasn't completely sure about for some reason, though I couldn't have said why- in retrospect I think it was because he almost wasn't pushy enough, silly as that sounds, I didn't get the impression he WANTED to 'do' my wedding.... until last weekend when I went to some friends wedding and he was photographer there- recognised me, was warm, friendly and fun and what a treat to get to see the Togs (husband and wife team) work together and see how they 'managed' the guests AND to chat to them 'on the job' as it were- decision made- we will be booking them asap!

I also saw a fantastic 'wish tree' whilst I was there, but have decided that I'm not spending £££ to hire one, so have ordered various things to attempt to make my own- should be fun and if it doesn't work, I'll buy a guest book ?

I've got my venue booked, the registrar provisionally booked and have started making my stationary and we have bought my ring... and tonight I've paid the deposit for our VOG.....lots still to do but it is feeling very real now!

Yay we've finally booked the Venus for the wedding.... Sorted out the reception venue, the room dresser and cake!! Going to venue soon to pay the deposit and finalise the menu... Sounds mad but I'm looking forward to that. It seems so real now things are getting booked... Even me and the MIL2B are starting slimming world together in preparation and hopefully a bit of bonding ?

Our photographer is now booked with the deposit paid and the contract signed eek!

The videographer is next on my list. They are all ridiculously expensive though :-( x

So lovely to have this thread for all us 2017 brides!! We have booked 14th October 2017 it will be our 11 year anniversary that day.

I will be getting our wedding insurance on Wednesday as you can't it get over 2 years away, venue is booked. Our theme will be Rustic as we getting married in a barn venue and I love grey for bridesmaid dresses. I didn't think you could book registry till year in advance?

I think it depends on the district. Mine won't let me book until exactly a year before. Some seem to be happy taking provisional bookings though. Just give them a ring and find out. I have my phone set for 4th August 2016 so I can ring at exactly 9am and book it!

Hi. Welcome to the thread! It depends on the Council. Ours has allowed us to book over two years in advance, but we can't give notice until one year from the date of our wedding.

Likewise, our local authority allowed us to provisionally book two years in advance but we can't give notice until a year ahead!

Ok, we have a provisional date booked... 10th August 2017. Just gotta pay the deposit!

Our date is 25th March 2017

We got engaged nearly 8 months ago but in that time have bought our first house so now that we're all moved in and set up it's time to start planning! We have booked our venue at a vintage cinema and our photographer and are now looking for our reception venue.

20th May :-)

So I'm off to my first wedding show on Sunday with my mum - I can't tell who's more excited out of the two of us! I'm also shortlisting a few venues, so hopefully I'll be visiting them over the next month or so! It's starting to feel a teensy bit real now.

We've set the date and paid the deposit on our venue and provisionally booked the registrar. Going to start looking at photographers next and get an idea of prices and styles. Expensive day - booked the registrar, bought my wedding dress (ordered from China) and my MOH's dress ordered too. Should both be here before Christmas!

Hi girls, can I join you? We did provisionally book for 13th April as there was a brilliant midweek offer but I wasn't massively happy with the date because my mum works in a school and is making my wedding cake so would have had to take a few days unpaid leave.

So I asked the venue if they did any packages for Friday's and they have agreed to move my date to the 21st April with the complete package for an extra £500. Given that I was looking at other venues for more money just to suit the date, I was very happy!

How has everyone got on with venues and their pricing? My final 2 options still don't have 2017 prices confirmed but expect a deposit to secure. Feels a bit odd paying a deposit for something that the total could soar on :/

I wouldn't agree to paying anything unless prices were confirmed. At least make sure the deposit is refundable if you do although I would ask them to hold their prices given that they haven't sorted prices yet.

My venue are charging the same for 2016 and 2017 but from what I've seen from most places I've looked at, there's usually a price hike every year so you'd want confirmation of this before you part with your deposit.

I'm glad it's not just me being awkward with my hesitance! we're going to visit our favoured venue again tomorrow so I will find out for sure. 2017 isn't all that far away & with so many dates already taken it just surprises me they haven't set their prices.

Our venue offered us 2017 wedding at 2015 prices as an incentive to book so early with them.

i would be cautious about paying a deposit on something you wasn't sure what the final price would be.

We also got the venue for 2015 price for booking early, but the church has told us to expect a 2% increase each year so at least I still have an idea on what it will cost with the increases x
