****2017 Brides****Currently 166 Brides and 1 Groom****

Our wedding is 29th April 2017.

Our venue is booked + deposit paid for, and we've booked and paid a deposit for a sweet cart, save the dates are designed and ready to go out in November and I'm just about to send out cards to my bridesmaids. Colour scheme has been decided, honeymoon decided on too, my wedding ring has been chosen but he's toying between two different ones.

Not looking at dresses until this time next year (got a lot of weight to lose so will have a better idea of my size by then), photographer and cars are next on our list!

I love organising stuff, so I've got folders and post-it notes everywhere ? plus we've already been engaged for 2 years so most of this was already planned in my head x

Savin isn't going very well at the ment we have about £1000 saved and paying the venue off monthly. Hopefully be able to save more soon when h2b work picks up.

I really like coral, but lilic is nice too. Not much help! Lol I'd probably go with coral out of those but then I like all the peachy colours and am planning on having those peachy pinky colours for mine with gold I reckon and some sparkle! :-)

So thats just the venue, registrar & colour theme sorted, and possibly photographer. A long list still to do though!

It's so hard chosen! ! I think I'll go for coral coz it's nice and bright and summery and the men are in grey suits which go lovely with coral. Ooooooooo your colours sound lovely too x

Depends on your registry office, majority are 1 year. Mine- I can book 2 years in advance, which I did today

I think Im going for pale lilac and silvers, with maybe some other pastel colours thrown in. Xxx

I booked our registrar over two years before. We can only give notice up to one year before, though.

Pretty much decided on a theme (purple & lace) and venue (Cadbury Hotel), planning to book at their next open day to take advantage of the offers! Loving going to all the fairs!

I'm already getting enquiries for 2017 and it seems so far in the future to think about when I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing early next week, haha! The time will fly though, it always does… x

Must. Stop. Looking. At. Wedding. Magazines.

I was happy to just get a dress from an outlet, until I bought BRIDES magazine. Now I'm bookmarking dresses left, right and centre. Only problem is, I've fallen head over heels in love with all of the 1920s and 1930s inspired styles - slim fitting, heavily embellished...and ranging between £1,250 and £2,500!

It wouldn't bother me - we could afford it, and the little part of me that hates the idea of paying so much for one day is easily silenced by pretty things. The only problem is, my mother's attitude is that it's a waste of money, that OH will think I'm gorgeous whatever I wear, and as long as I "have something nice, it'll do". I would just buy a dress and lie that I got it half price in a sale or something, but she'll be furious if I go dress shopping without her, and my mother in a bad mood will just make life unbearable.

Oh well, I can't go buying my dress yet anyway for various reasons, so maybe by the time I do go looking those styles won't be available anymore, or they'll all be in the sales.

Hi I'm 12 August 2017. I've booked ceremony, registrar, reception(and therefore caterer), photographer, dj, hair and makeup. and bought the dress for my one bridesmaid. MadamRed, you might get lucky and be able to get your dream dress as a sample next year! Thats what I'm kind of hoping for, but the whole dress thing terrifes the wits out of me.

I'm currently trying to figure out when is the best to buy my dress!

im getting married the end of July, so I was thinking of going dress shopping near Christmas so I'd have 18 months for it to be made fittings etc. but now I'm deliberating about waiting till April/may for the sample sales.

Am I right in thinking sample sales are usually around this time of year?

12 months would be plenty of time so I would say wait for sales if you can hold out that long

I'm a 2017 bride too! No venue booked yet, looking at booking for the end of May once we find somewhere :-) so far have decided on photographer and colours, but not much else! So many decisions to make, really hoping to get a date booked in soon to make it feel real! I'm thinking sunflower bouquets with bridesmaids in teal (or lighter variant of depending on BM's preference), with the men in grey suits... So overall colour scheme is teal, yellow and grey. Hoping it will look nice!

How soon is too soon to go dress shopping? I've seen one that I'm desperate to try on but worry if I like it and order it it will leave me too much time to come across something else I like even more! But likewise don't want to lose out if they decide to stop making it!

I dont see a problem in trying on your dress. We are paying for everything ourselves so I am liking doing things a bit early so that I can plan my budget etc. So far I have photographer, venue, music and my dress found (waiting to order dress as it is extortionate so I am trying to find something similar and cheaper as well as looking at getting my dream dress made!)

Its all very exciting! Youll have to keep me up to date with how you are getting on, especially if we could be getting married around the same time! or even the same date!

That colour scheme sounds lovely, I wanted teal but h2b says I got the bedroom coloured teal against his will so the wedding can't be teal as well haha (so we've gone for royal blue)!

I'd say hold off on dress shopping until at least 12 months before!

I'm not even looking at dresses until then, I've glanced at them in bridal magazines etc but I refuse to step foot in a shop!

Ooh my sister had Royal Blue, I was her bridesmaid, it looked really stunning... I now find myself drawn to that colour every time I buy clothes! I was also a bridesmaid in lilac and silver too a few years a go and it looked lovely :-) You all sound super organised! I think I will hold off a few more months for the dress and maybe have a look in winter when there isn't much exciting going on, not sure I'll be able to wait until then though!

It's funny, I'd never really given much thought to getting married before but the moment we got engaged I've become obsessed and it's now all I think about! I think I need to calm down! Haha! Happy planning everyone :-) x

I might have won the dress battle with my mum! I went to a Sikh wedding over the last couple of weekends (engagement party a fortnight ago, pre-wedding celebration last Friday and the actual wedding last Saturday). It was incredible, but it must have cost a fortune. It was free food and an open bar, professional DJ, marquee hired for the Friday and Saturday, and I know they spent over a grand on photography for the engagement party alone.

I told my parents about it, and they've basically agreed that they can't complain about the cost of anything in my wedding now as long as I can afford it myself ?

(We may also be considering a Chinese lion dance and fireworks now, as well...).

Getting married on 27/07/2017.

We put down first deposit on the venue the other week. Planning on going back to see the wedding planner in the next week or so to discuss timings and things for the day itself. We have also been to see the local registrar and got our day provisionally booked with them and the forms too.

I'm lucky that our registrar can be booked up to 24 months before. She said that I was "one of the first 2017 brides to book, but not the first!" You have plenty of time.

I have been researching photographers, florists amd photo booths but I feel like it's too early?

I have had a look into entertainment etc and might put in a couple of calls just to check availability etc.

I have one of those 'wedding countdown' chalkboards and it's something ridiculous like 724 days away! ha ha!

I've been looking at photographers for a while! I'm wondering if they'll think that I'm nuts for contacting them so early?! I see how many things some brides have planned and it makes me a bit panicky!
