32D bras -where?

Janna, 27 March, 2009 at 19:34 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

I went to Rigby & Peller today to get properly fitted for a bra. Despite being pretty confident I was wearing the right size at 34B, I am in fact a 32D. Given I was a (supposedly) trained bra fitter for M&S in my yoof, it's pretty shameful that I got it so wrong. ?

Anyway, 34B is obviously really easy to find so I've never struggled to find bras up until now, but I don't recall ever seeing many 32D bras in mainstream stores. So can anyone recommend to me a good bra shop (on line or in Kent) that do more unusual sizes please?

? million.

It's not highstreet, but I use figleaves.com to get my bras. Either that or bravissmo start from D cup.

Erm, it's difficult, but M&S do them - I often order them in my size as they don't have them in stock. Also, La Senza do some x

Why is 32D an unusual size??? It's not difficult to get D cup bras; most ranges go up to a D now. I'm a 32 DD (or E if I've put a bit of weight on) and have got bras from M&S, Debenhams and Bravissimo (online and in their shops). The only difficulty I find sometimes is actually getting the 32 as most bra manufacturers expect you to have a big back with your big baps! But honestly, it's not that much of a biggy, you should be fine once your start looking. The only pain is that you'll notice you can't wear farty little bikinis that cost a tenner (I bought two bikinis from Bravissimo last year and they came to about £80 with the briefs as well! Suppose they'll last a while though as they're good quality). Sorry for rambling!

I'm a 32DD (oneupmanship icon ?) and they're not hard to find. The only problem is that a lot of ranges change over to thick granny-stylee straps over a D, which is a pain.

I get mine from Next mostly, they usually have very reasonably prices 2-packs or some quite pretty sets.
Other than that, I'd usually look in M&S, John Lewis (for brands like Freya etc) or La Senza

I know what you mean though, particularly if you're looking for a matching set, quite often I see a lovely bra which is available in 32 B and C, or starting from a 34 back.

Thanks ladies, so it's not going to be as tricky as I feared, good news!

Sophie - you win at bra cup trumps ?

Oh and thank you to the person who supposed I'd be in the market for a bikini - sadly after two children my stomach would clear beaches at 40 paces ? But it's nice to think someone thinks I'd pull it off.

    Thanks again.

    Hi there

Don't want to do M&S down, but I've heard they use the old measuring tape way of working out your size. This is fine for your ribcage but not so good for you cup size. Using a tape a person could be a 'slightly saggy' C or D and measure the same as a B. Other stores tend to look at the fullness of the beast, especially what it looks like when it's lifted into the correct cup.. It's trial and error but generally a better way of doing things. The last place I got measured never even got a tape measure out, just did it on sight...and they were spot on in terms of comfort and support!

One interesting thing to note, a 32 back is WAY more common than we realise. If you can fit more than two fingers under the back strap your bra is too loose and you need to go down a back size. Sometimes this can feel uncomfortable (I went down from a 36B to a 32 DD in one day as I was wearing the wrong size) but it needs to be tight or you won't get the support. M&S generally (in my experiences) only say you are a 34 or above (If I'm a 32 now at 10stone I was certainly less than that when I had food problems when I was nineteen and eight stone when I was told I was 34A ).

32D shouldn't be that difficult to find. I take 30FF, and - OH MY - I have trouble there!

    I would try:

    http://www.bravissimo.com/Default.aspx

    http://www.figleaves.com/uk/home.asp

And on the high street, Debenhams and House of Fraser have good choice.

You'll need to think in terms of 'brands' rather than shops. I personally think that Freya (available at all of the above) is an amazing brand in terms of fit and support. There is also Bacirubati, Kalyani, Fantasie... I'm sure there are others too Smiley smile

Once you have find a brand that suits you well, I'd seriously recommend an eBay hunt. I get about 50% of my bras from eBay - all brand new with tags - a lot of sellers seem to have access to last season's design or slight seconds. Expect to pay between 30-60% of the RRP Smiley winking

TK-Maxx - when I was a 32FF this was the only place I could get decent looking bras - they tend to cater for extremes I find... like my size 7 boats... so pick up a pair of shoes while you're there.
