a lesson learned - groom's outfits!

Anonbride, 4 January, 2023 at 16:55 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 5

For the past year, my FH has been absolutely adament that he wants a tan/sand/oatmeal suit for our wedding. Absolutely deadset on it. So we planned a colour scheme around him and the groomsmen being in tan/sand, and my bridal party being in pastel sea blues/greens. All good, all super organised but then...

I pretty much dragged FH suit shopping the other day. To see if anything was in the sales and just to try a few things on and maybe get some fabric swatches or whatever as I'm planning on going shopping with the bridesmaids soon. Got to Moss Bros and he told the advisor he wanted tan, absolutely definitely tan. Tried it on and HATED IT. It just did not go with his complextion at all and completely washed him out.

Still, he was adament he wanted a light colour - tried some on and again, unsure, unsure, unsure.

Long story short, he eventually tried on a teal suit and fell completely in love with it!!

Which has led to a lot of rethinking around what the rest of the wedding party might wear, we might even reverse the original and put team bride in sand colours like golds or champagnes or something. I don't know, I'm currently making lots of moodboards all over again haha. (Ideas welcome!)

So, my advice is, unless your groom is the kind of guy that's already v into suits and knows what he likes and looks good in, get them shopping sooner than you think! Smiley laugh

I'm taking my partner to a suit shop next week, he's not that worried about it yet but I want to get that sorted before I sort the bridesmaid dresses to make sure it all goes together.

    Oh dear!

I think it would still work to have the bridesmaids in bluey/greeny shades though if you don't want to change. You can just look at lighter shades that will tone with the teal suit.

I am currently trying to encourage my fiancé and his groomsmen to get themselves sorted sooner rather than later, they are all far too laid back for my liking! They're all wearing their clan kilts but want to match their Prince Charlie jackets... which I'll then need to match to the non-Scottish family members who want to wear tails. It's all getting too complicated for me, bridesmaid shopping was so easy!

There are some stunning teal coloured bridesmaid dresses out there if you want to keep it matching or on the same pallet. Pale gold or bronze also goes really well with teal, as does peach depending on the month you're getting married if you're going for summer or winter colours Smiley smile

Hi, Idk whether you solved your problems, but if you want to keep things coordinated, check out those stunning teal bridesmaid dresses. Teal goes great with pale gold or bronze accents. And peach can be a lovely option too.

The key is to find a color palette that complements the kilts and the overall vibe of your wedding. That way, everyone can feel like they're part of the big picture.

Remember, communication is key - I mean talk to your fiancé and the groomsmen, listen to their ideas, and find a compromise that works for everyone. And most importantly, don't stress too much. It'll all come together in the end, and you'll have an amazing wedding day, I'm sure.

    Happy wedding!
