Alternative Dresses!

Finding the right dress is such a big thing. You want to feel comfortable but want people to be wowed and you want it to fit your theme as well.

My dress is white lace with a sheer section on the neckline and back, so I have bought some floral lace appliques to be added by my seamstress. I bought these from Etsy, take a look around online and see if you can find something you like.

I have also been to a wedding where the bride wore green as it was her favourite colour and the bridesmaids were in white.

I agree with Zoe there is loads of ways you could have colour added to your dress x what colour theme are you having x💕

I think it depends on if you want the full bridal boutique experience or if you’re happy ordering online, or even if you consider going down the route of reselling sites such as Vinted which isn’t a bad idea and you can find some more alternative options from former brides. That’s what my friend did for her dress and she got a real bargain and something completely unique to what she could find in a boutique.


I found it really hard finding my perfect dress for my Halloween 2026 wedding in boutiques too, as it’s all predominantly white gowns or whatever is the ‘in’ trend.

It's a Halloween wedding so darker colours - dark reds, blacks etc so I'm looking for something along them lines

Depends how much colour you want - if you want a solid colour, just try a shop that does ballgowns/prom dresses. If you want white with touches of colour, then you could buy a white dress and customise it. I went to a Christmas wedding where the bride had added a broad red belt. red sparkly necklace and red trimming to the skirt of her dress. I've also seen white dresses with coloured gauze overskirts.
