Anyone else having a non-weddingy wedding?

Hey everyone, new to forum. My partner and I decided yesterday that we will get married in 12 weeks. 2nd time around for both of us. We are getting married outdoors at a place that means a lot to us with only our kids there (we don't have any kids together). We are not telling anyone else until after it had been done. We will take the kids for dinner after the ceremony and thar will be that. No hen night, engagement, reception, seating plans, favours, invitations, honeymoon or anything else. I have to say that it feels very liberating and very exciting!!! Done the whole big wedding thing last time around and it just doesn't appeal to us. This time it feels intimate and special and just what we both want. Don't want to have to think about anyone else other than ourselves.


So now need to organise a dress (it won't be a wedding dress!), hair accessories, sandals/trainers (haven't decided yet) wedding rings, some flowers for me and the girls, something for the kids and groom to wear (won't be wedding attire!) and that's about it!!!

    Its the whole family thing that has put us of telling us what we should and shouldnt have this way no one can tell us what to do are you having a colour scheme still x💗

    Yeah I remember the absolute stress of trying to please everyone last time and I refuse to do it this time. I don't have a colour scheme in mind. I haven't even sorted a dress. We are getting married outdoors so at the mercy of the weather and we have a wee bit of a walk to the ceremony site so will need to wear trainers or sandals. Am torn between a maxi dress, a floaty mini dress or a jumpsuit. Groom will probably wear jeans and the kids can wear whatever they want, although the girls will probably want dresses.....what about you? Are you all organised?

    That sounds perfect i was happy with the not doing dress and suits was happy to wear anythin besides a dress but h2b changed my mind my daughter is 19 so she is wearing her prom dress which still fits her i told my h2b he can wear what he wants so he is wearing just a shirt with pants same as the 15 year old and 9 year old boys. I hate being center of attention so we get married at a registry office and after go back to the cottage we are staying in xx💗

    I wanted to elope to Vegas & do the cheesy Elvis Chapel. Its also the 2nd time for me. As its H2B's first time I gave in & agreed to a small wedding but this has now spiraled into a more traditional wedding as I keep giving in to please people 😂


    He's super excited though so I'm happy.

    I don't mind being the centre of attention but H2B hates it. He comes from a big family and they make a big fuss of everything and love a party so it is his idea of hell to have a traditional wedding. We were talking last night and have changed our wedding date to midweek as his ex sometimes messes with his access to his daughter on weekends he is supposed to have her so we are going to do it while she is down for hols during the week. So we are now 9 weeks away instead of almost 12 👀 Need to think about getting ring sizes and getting rings organised I think.....it is fab that your daughter is wearing her prom dress, what a grwleat excuse to wear it again! Are you going for a traditional dress?

    I am from the big family h2b isent so i get your h2bs point xxi kbow so glad it still fits her x i di get 1 dress but was riyned so got a white dress of amazon from ever pretty xx 💗 we still have loads to do but iits not till next year xx what will all family and friends say xx

    This sounds perfect!! I'm jealous!!! I feel like our wedding is just for everyone else!!
    I'm not walking down the aisle, not having a first dance, no speeches, no bouquet toss, We're also having pictures first thing before the ceremony... Still weddingy just a little less so.
