Anyone that did or is doing 'dancing flipflops'.....

25 July, 2011 at 09:29 Posted on Planning 0 21

What did you use to keep the pairs of flipflops together in the basket?

Was thinking of tying them together with ribbon but wondering what others used.

Also, how many pairs did you get compared to the number of guests you have?

I've so far just left the tag on to secure them, but if I had more like i'd like to have used a bit of ribbon/paper bag etc.\

I've got 6 pairs between 60 guests - but then, around 50% of my ladies are either older ladies who will wear sensible shoes, or are so used to heels they wouldn't take 'em off for the world!

I tied mine with ribbon and made a kraft circular tag that had the sizes written on them. We provided 30 pairs for a guest total of just over 90. All pairs bar one were used.

    That's interesting CB.

May have to take a walk back to the shops for more.

I just decided to do this at the weekend after um-ing and ahh-ing about it for ages - spotted some in Primark that matched our colours and were reduced to £1! I've got 16 pairs between 80 guests which I think should be ok for our lot - most of them will wear sensible shoes anyway! I was just planning to tie them together with ribbon too.

Cheap flip-flops that you put out at your wedding for female guests whose feet are hurting from wearing heels all day; so they can keep on dancing. Not flip-flops that dance. Unfortunately.

    I like CB's idea!

I'm going to get between 20-30 I think. I really appreciated them at CB's wedding. My feet were a bit sore by the evening! I would definitely have been bare foot otherwise, like the wedding I went to last month!

My cousin got married in my parents garden last year and got flip flops in a basket for people to dance in.

Unfortunatley no one used them. People were just happy to take their shoes off and dance barefoot.

Oo, this is an interesting idea. We're having a ceilidh band so there'll be lots of dancing, I was just going to suggest that people bring a pair of flat shoes with them for the evening, but this is a really cool idea!

    What sizes are you buying?

I did a survey of H'rs feet sizes, so based my buying on that.

    I bought:

    3-4: 6 pairs

    5-6: 14 pairs

    7-8: 10 pairs

    They were only £1 each.

If you look on Ebay you can sometimes but them there as "job lots"- there are some quite gaudy colours though so you have to hunt for them.

They also had pink and purple ones in poundland last time I went in if that helps.

I had a look on ebay a couple of months ago too and found the same. I got mine from Primark in the end as someone kindly posted that they had a sale on. I have to say, the colours are really nice for £1 a pair.

Can I just say I did this at my wedding and it went down a storm! The only thing I would've done differently was to buy twice as many pairs as there was nearly fighting over them. I had about 25 pairs for about 70 women. They were in hot demand!

I just put the left flip into the toe of the right flop...although I realise that probably makes no sense at all...so people didn't have to bother removing tags/ribbons as that might be irritating after a few glasses of champagne! I lined them up in a basket in order of size so 3-4's, 5-6's, 7-8's etc.

I also put a big sign that stuck up at the back of the basket which matched all of our stationery that said "A Delightful Treat for Your Dancing Feet!".
