A cellulite question (sorry)

R-A, 9 August, 2009 at 19:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Does it ever go away?

I have had orange peel thighs for as long as I remember - whatever my BMI, it doesn't seem to make any difference.

I'm now exercising more regularly than ever - at least 4 hours swimming a week and at least 4 hours (usually nearer 10) walking. This is about my 3rd month of this regime.

Most things are very positive: my muscle tone is improving, I'm losing weight and inches. My BMI is normal (and has always been <29, so not massively obese). But: my cellulite seems exactly the same...

Is this it forever?

Yours, gloomy of East London ☹️

    I think it is ☹️

I have always had it - if I lose weight then it isn't so noticable but is still there. I have always been slim ( 9.5st ish) but have always had orange peel. I do tend to carry by extra weight on my thighs.

    i hate it ☹️

Mine can definitely improve but it takes losing weight and lots of running, two things which I seem incapable of doing.

So I think no, it won't go but you can improve the look of it.

Loving the adverts this thread is generating! For example

As for the orange peel effect, only serious toning helps AFAIK. I've been afflicted with it since early teens, and no-one I know has successfully got rid of it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and all that ?

I intend to get lipo as soon as I win the lottery. My ass and the back of thighs look like a bag of spuds.

    Gah, I thought so, dammit.

Just so frustrating as otherwise I might be heading for the first holiday ever where I felt happy in a bikini ☹️

Oh well, the usual wrap/skirt/shorts it is then.

I don't think there are many women who feel happy in a bikini ?

I think it's hereditary isn't it? Or it's one of those things you either have or you don't. I remember being amazed at 6th form my much thinner friend had it and I didn't. There's something in Closer magazine this week and one of the treatments they try actually works.

Mal, I know that in theory but why are there so many skinny minnies with no cellulite on the beaches on holiday ? <mean> I bet they don't even exercise. Grump. Sulk.

Doughnut - yeah that makes sense. Sis also struggles with it despite being an avid swimmer. We all carry our weight around bum/thighs - typical 'hourglass' figure. I also have varicose veins appearing (at the age of 25 ?) that I'm also blaming on my mother.

Hmmmm. I remember reading somewhere years ago what a shame it is that we have turned normal female flesh into a disease.

I don't believe that "cellulite" as such exists - it's just that when we have fat in certain areas it tends to be lumpy. I've never had it much at all, but I do find that the one thing that minimises it is hard exercise - to do with improving circulation in the area I believe.
