I wanted to do a little report on my hen weekend as we did a couple of activities that I know are quite popular so the information could be useful for anyone considering a chocolate making course or cocktail making. Here goes:
So we all arrived separately on the Friday night, some arrived later than others due to work so it was about 9 before we were finally ready for food. I had arranged the weekend myself (slight control freak) and I said to my girls on the way up that I was a little sad that I knew what what would be happening the whole weekend but this wasn't the case. Once we were ready they took me into one of their rooms where they had got bottles of champers waiting and all had on funny masks and whistles for everyone and a garter and veil for me!! The first night we were in personalised tshirts and this worked really well, so we headed for food and took it steady the first night with just a bit of drinking and plenty of dancing. Manchester was full of stag and hen groups but I was surprised how friendly everyone was, loads of people coming up and congratulating me and buying me shots etc! One stag group we had met in our hotel offered me a drinking competition with the stag and I won which made us all laugh and the stag was rather put out by that! haha.
Little flash *Please don't quote as I will be deleting*
Saturday we went chocolate making and it was honestly brilliant. It is rather expensive and can't quite say it was worth the £40-50 pp we paid for it but it was a great way to fill 3 hours. The guy that did the session was brilliant, we made personalised chocolate buttons and our own truffles but it was a lot of fun doing it. It was meant to be between 2-2half hours but we were there 3 and he didn't have a problem with it at all! Then we mooched around town before going back to get ready for cocktail making at 6pm. The girls had brought sashes for us to wear for the second night which again was a really nice touch, matched our pretty dresses perfectly.
For anyone who loves the cocktails in Revolution then this is perfect for you! We paid around £20 for this which included a couple of food platters after and this was certainly worth the money. We were in a VIP area upstairs and first he let us all go round the other side of the bar and he showed us how to make some of their most popular cocktails, ie Strawberry Mojito, Long Island Ice Tea and a Mudslide (yum!) which we got to drink. We were whipping the cocktails out a fast pace and the other girls were taking it steady but I was just polishing up the ones no one wanted, schoolboy error!! We had a little break where we had to all sit down and plan our own cocktails that we wanted to make before having another shot and starting again. So we all got to make up our own cocktails which was fun, by this point I had had far to much to drink (it was half 7) and I was rather ill!! haha, I really am a lightweight but it was a lot of mixed alcohol to have in such a short space of time so my tip would be pace yourself ladies
Another little flash, again please don't quote.
We then had some food in Revs then headed into town. The girls wanted to go straight to TigerTiger which I found a bit odd but little did I know that they had hired a booth for the night with champagne, cupcakes and other nibbles which was lovely of them. It was a good idea as we had a base to sit down if we wanted to but we didn't need it as we spent the whole night dancing away!! My poor feet were killing by the end of the night but I can honestly say it was a brilliant weekend, we all enjoyed the activities and my girls did me proud with all their little planned surprises!!
