A question about the hen night from mother of bride

mariclare, 28 December, 2010 at 16:28 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi There Chief bridesmaid and I are getting our heads together to plan a hen night for my daughter who doesn't really like pubs/clubs in fact she doesn't drink alcohol so we wondered if you think this would be ok for a hen do? either meal followed by pottery making/painting session or pottery followed by meal to do a keepsake for the bride then younger ones back to hers for pj party then all meet up for spa day the next day. I'm liking the spa bit anyway. We could get a good luck cake and flowers deliverd to the meal venue for her and do thank you party bags for the hens. Would this be ok do you think? it would be a saturday and sunday thing. thanks a lot

The hen do can be anything you want as long as the B2B will like it! Personally I think it sounds like a nice relaxing day/evening. You don't HAVE to go on a night out if your daughter's not into that kind of thing

It all sounds great, especially as she'll get a keepsake to remind her of it !!

That sounds great to me. I didn't go out pubbing for mine and I had a great time. Our order of events was

    Pub lunch (with wine)

    Horse Riding

Pamper party (at my friends house - with wine)

It was all very civilised and relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable. You really can do whatever you think the B2B will like.

I don't go to pubs or clubs and don't drink either so I'm really keen to hear what others do for their hen. I'm not getting married until June 2011 and haven't really thought about a hen party yet. I think my sister/bridesmaid will also like some suggestions ?

I think that sounds like a fab idea for a hen do!

I'm not particularly keen on clubbing/ getting wrecked either so something like that sounds perfect. I've got quite a while to think about mine hehe, but at the moment me and my sister are thinking of clay pigeon shooting or archery (why leave all the action to the boys!!) and maybe some spa stuff, with a few cocktails in the evening.

I think what you've chosen sounds lovely. As long as you think you daughter will like it then go for it. I'm not into clubbing/drinking vast quantities either so decided I'd like to get a minibus to London and see a show. We saw the matinee of Priscilla (what can I say - FANTASTIC!) followed by a lovely meal in a posh(ish) restaurant and then home and tucked up in bed by midnight! Perfect (for me, and my friends!)

I was thinking about a spa weekend but I think thats going to be out of the price bracket...

Sooo, my next thought is to go and have an afternoon around a Go Ape course (I totally LOVE Go Ape) and then on to a nearby hotel for the evening for a meal, stop over and back the following day...

If you like action then do look at Go Ape!
