Accomodation for large groups

alleroo, 25 May, 2009 at 20:32 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

Does anyone have and recs for sites to find accomodation for large groups?

I've been tasked with finding a venue for a weekend away for a cabaret group I'm a member of, but am struggling a bit to find anything that meets the requirements. It's all corporate (inc. the corporate prices) or bunk beds for the size I'm looking for, neither of which meets the very specific requirements.

TIA for anyone who can help ?

Travel Inn and travelodge both have group booking lines I believe. Although if you are looking for a venue that will do a dinner or some such then probably not appropriate. Though Travel Inn has Touchbase on some of its sites (maybe all, not sure)?

    Holiday home/cottage/mansion type thing?

What area do you have in mind? If weekend, some city centre venues might do you a deal, or off-season some of the more weddingy type places might?

Mentioning bunk beds, I'm assuming you've tried the YHA? Some of them have been done up nicely now with 1/2 bed rooms and some en suites. Rentahostel.com is the website.

Some country cottage sites have larger properties listed too.

Some friends of my parents let their house through a website that caters specifically for big groups - i think they are slightly the luxurious end but not quite sure

will try and find out what it is

Thanks for the replies, but it seems none of those fit what I've got to find ?

I get the feeling this is going to be a real arse to sort

Mmm - i think the budget is an issue really - for 3 days for just us i reckon somewhere self contained is going to be at least 3 - 400 and that is the non plush end

have found a few places that fit the bill but it is the money - and also the needing a big communal space - some have the bedrooms but not that

    I agree totally.
I was looking for something for this April before christmas, but only for 17 people, but at that point I had a smaller budget and it was eventally scrapped as 2 of the people were going to have a baby close to that time.
£1k looked to be doable at that point, but for the smaller group, and they've forgotten than it was a smaller group back then.
upping it to 22 people has put us into a whole new category of accommodation, which is why I'm really struggling now
