An announcement

As some of you may know I've not been drinking very much recently. Just (the very occasional) glass of wine. After 4 weeks of this I have discovered...

That...

The cost of soft drinks is absolutely disgusting! Recently I was charged £2.95 for half a pint of diet coke. How on earth can they justify that? I really am appalled.

Ha! Nope, it was purely for health reasons. I'm just so shocked at how pricey it is, particularly for fizzy pop from a mix tap. It's not even as if I'm being served a diet coke in a glass bottle.

Too true. If i ever have a soft drink, and i cant remember partaking in a non-alccy drink in a pub in the last 6 months, i will have tap water.

I find I drink much less liquid when I'm on the soft drinks too. 2 glasses of fizzy pop and I'm done for an evening.

    Justification: people will pay it.

True cost: pennies. At every pub I've worked at, the profit margin on soft drinks was a bazillion* times more than on anything else.

You'll have to stick to Council pop! I think its even worse at our local Chinese restaurant because you can see them at the bar pouring to coke out of a 2ltr bottle but they charge £1.50 a small glass!

We went to a restaurant once where they charged £3.95 per small (well half pint) glass of flat, own brand coke from a bottle... H refused to go back on account of that and the card machine asking for a tip - he hates that! It's the only time he won't tip

In France we paid 4.50 Euros for half a coke and they just poured it out of a 2l bottle too. Not impressed!

A top tip... soda and lime is less than £1 for half a pint and is yum!

I go knitting in a pub and usually go for something soft for fear of messing up my knitting.

Knitting vixen beat me to the top tip. But i agree what they charge for soft drinks when partaking in a beverage out and about is disgusting and it is blantely becuase they turn a much bigger profit on them!
