Any Doctors about? Chest Pains...

ooh la la, 5 July, 2009 at 09:22 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

Hello, I wondered if anyone could help me please....

I'm a healthy 21 year old, but this is the second time that this has happened now - I get an awful stabbing pain, right in the middle of my chest (between my boobs!) and I find it difficult to breathe or even move, because the pain is so severe. It doesn't feel like my heart (that's more over to the left isn't it?) Could it be my sternum? Is that where it is?!?!

I'm a wee bit scared, as my Mum has told me before that her Nain (Grandma) died of an Pulmonary Embulism, whilst hanging her washing up on a high washing line.

The first time was when I woke up and whilst lying in bed, I stretched my arms up above my head, and it happened then. I found it difficult to move and it was a stabbing, tearing pain in my chest. I couldn't move and felt really faint. The second time, was yesterday afternoon, I was sitting having a wee and trying to put my hair in a pony tail at the same time. I had the same stabbing pain and felt dizzy. (I was stood up to wipe at this point!!!) I just couldn't move because the pain was so bad, so I was stood in my bathroom, trousers and knickers down, completely still and like a statue. I was scared to move, incase it "did something" bad.

What is wrong with me? Is it just my body telling me to go careful with the stretching up? Or something more sinister? Should I go to my GP, or is it nothing to worry about?

Many thanks in advance.

    Hi

I don't know if it is anything bad or not - but if it is worrying you, then surely it's worth a trip to the Dr to find out?

    Hope you're okay ?

The gut feeling of an internet weirdy: doesn't sound typical of a PE (or anything heart related).

    BUT

Go and see your GP and get yourself checked out properly, please.

Thanks all, sorry for the late reply - we went on our Sunday morning walk and have just got back.

I shall book it with my GP then.

Thanks for all of your replies.

Not a medical bod, OH is a nurse and that's as far as it gets, but she says any chest pain at all, you should definitely see a doctor. It's probably nothing serious, but something like that you should always have checked out.
