Any Glasgow Brides Out There?

girlfantastico, 1 February, 2012 at 14:57 Posted on Planning 0 51

Just looking to see how many Glasgow brides are out there on Hitched, what suppliers are they using etc? I sorted the cake already through the venue but now I'm thinking I want something really original and probably more expensive!!!

Just got started with my planning and need some advice/ideas about a lovely Glasgow wedding (well, just outside Glasgow)!!

Hiya, im just outside Glasgow, in Coatbridge! Im getting married in 5 weeks so everythings pretty much organised and done!

We're only having a small wedding and have budgeted for it very carefully (been together 12 years and have 2 kids so didnt see the point in spending a fortune). We are getting married in Airdrie Reg Office and having a wedding breakfast in The Tudor Hotel in Airdrie, then we are having our reception in a diffrent place in Coatbridge. Got about 35 during the day and 100 guests at night. Got alot of things done by family and friends and used Ebay alot Smiley smile

Where you thinking of having it?

I sure am! So is Looneysh (well, she's from Glasgow but getting married in Italy), Stacey Lynch, Wee Katy, RKB, Clair x, AllyMcBear, McCafferty2b, and I'm sure plenty others who I've neglected to mention.

What do you want to know? What kind of suppliers are you looking for?

Myself, Looneysh, and possibly Stacey and Catherine are heading up town this Saturday for some drinks and wedding (and non-wedding) chat...you're welcome to join us if you like?

I am a stirling bride, only bout half an hour away! I got my bridesmaids dresses from Debenhams in the St Enoch Centre, and heading to Glasgow at the end feb for my 'mini-maid' dresses. I have used ebay alot too. Got my Wedding Dress from Opus Couture in West Kilbride which is a bit of a trek but absolutely fab xx

Wow there are loads of you!!! I'm in East Kilbride, have booked Burnhouse Manor in Ayrshire, about 40 minutes away in car but chuffed nonetheless with the venue!!!

Aw I would totally love to go for drinks in town but I am working on Saturday but definitely next time, always nice to meet new people!

Have been to Berketex Bride to try on dresses and am going to arrange to go to Reetas soon!

Nice to meet you all!! Smiley laugh

    I'm from Glasgow too!

I'm still looking for my wedding dress too. Sarah Louise bridal shop on Hope St is having their sale this Sunday so might be worth a look if you have an idea of what you want.

I ended up buying my dress in the Eleganza Sposa sample sale but Reeta's was one of the only places I went to try dresses on...purely for giggle. I am not a snob but it was really quite funny. Ask the girls to show you the most expensive dress in the shop when you go. They themselves HATE it! Ha ha! The woman who helped me actually said things like, "Naw, that's pure rank on you" Wah ha ha!!

Oh Smiley sad I'd heard loads of good things about there! There is still Angelique Lamonts, my sister saw her dress there and it was the first one she tried on, she tried a few other ones on but she ended up buying that first one!!!

DEFO go! The ladies are lovely and I tried on some great dresses but it's definitely an "experience" in the best possible way! What about Frasers for a bit of luxury? I saw some beauties in there.

I got my bridesmaid dresses from Angelique Lamont and actually picked them up today!! Had no problems and all look great.
I got my wedding dress from Rubenesque bridal in Whitburn (for larger ladies lol) and only half price and the lady in the shop Jan was lovely.

I wasnt that keen on Reetas as I thought the bridesmaid dresses were quite expensive for what they were. Never tried on any wedding dresses there so no idea about that.

    Enjoy planning xx

I never thought about Frasers, I'm a size 22 with a haaauuuuuge chest and would be worried that the dresses in there are a wee bit too small for me Smiley sad

Im a 22 too and I would recommend Rubenesque as I was able to try on loads that actually did up at the back lol so i was able to get a great idea of what they looked like. Jan the lady that owns the shop was so lovely.

If you dont have your cake I would recommend Custom Cakes by Lynsey near Shawlands. We are getting a 3 teir mixed flavour sponges for £180. We are having Vanilla, Lemon & Chocolate mint flavour layers.

I'll get my mum to take me there it sounds awesome to try on dresses that actually fit!

That's brilliant for a cake! We got our cake included with our venue price, but considering removing it from the package as I was on 3D cakes looking at the Beatles All You Need Is Love cake. It looks amazing!

I'm from Glasgow too. Getting married in Dec at House For An Art Lover. I'm really struggling to find a videographer who's work I like. I'm fed up trawling through tons of sample DVD's and generally within the first 10mins I know it's not the style I'm after.

I haven't started dress shopping yet, but have an appt with Verity Grace (FB), who's based in Dennyloanhead, have heard so many good things about her.

I'm making my own cake, what started out as a hobby has turned into a wee sideline, so looking forward to thinking of designs for that...

I have my pals wedding this Sat at The Grand Central Hotel, can't wait :-)

House for an Art Lover is gorgeous!!! I know what you mean btw, I have been on Rock n Roll Bride all night thinking "omg that's the style of pictures and videos i want" but i dont think there are many companies who are really alternative and creative, I know I couldn't do it, I love all the vintagey/country house/rockabilly stuff and am looking for that kind of theme but no idea how to execute it!

Making your own cake?! Jealous! Wish I had the talent for that!

GCH is stunning also your pal will have an amazing day!

Good luck with your wedding planning ladies. Where are you all getting married? What are your venues?

I see some of you are looking for wedding dresses. Remember there are bridal shops outwith Glasgow city centre. Certainly many down in Loch Lomond.
