There is a lovely Marriott hotel just off juntion 15 of the M1, first left as you come off. Never been in, but it seems to have some nice grassy areas which I like.

How far are you willing to travel? Woburn Abbey is meant to be awesome!

I got married at Dodmoor House last October and absolutley loved it there. The staff couldn't do enough for you and they certainly don't rip you off with corkage charge etc. Lots of the guests have said to me how nice the venue was as well.

I really couldn't recommend them enough.

What about Holdenby House? Not seen it myself but apparently very nice, and they do weddings.

Has she ruled out Rushton Hall or Rockingham Castle - both stunning venues with great gardens and within the Northants area. I think they also do wedding at Kirby Hall too again a lovely venue (mostly ruins but they do have some lovely rooms still) but fabulous for wedding photos managed by English Heritage.

    Hi Tracey

None of those ring a bell so i will ask her about them, Kirby Hall sounfds lovely, cheers ?

ETA They do look lovely but are a bit grand for what she is looking for, I think she is after ore a country house type venue were she can have lawn games and that kind of thing

I got married at Dodmoor House last year and the staff and owners are absolutely fantastic. Holdenby House is lovely, as is Fawsley Hall. Has she looked at Stowe? They have the landscape gardens there with beautiful follies you can get married in (also the main house itself does weddings).

Another option is Stoke Park Pavillions near Towcester. There is also Plum Park House, also near Towcester but I understand the interior needs doing up a wee bit.

How about Hellidon Lakes? We went to have a look but it was a bit too far out for us. Just had a look and they have a wedding fayre on there on the 27th March.

Another vote for Fawsley Hall here as we are getting married there in August.

There is the choice of the main house or a separate house Knightly Court which we much preferred. This is the wedding breakfast room which we fell in love with:

I would second Tracey's suggestion for Rushton hall. My best friend got married there and it's lovely. They have large grounds and a lovely internal courtyrad area, plus spa etc. They also have a large modern room for the reception and great hotel rooms

There is a lovely venue near Lutterworth, not sure if it is too far out https://www.kilworthhouse.co.uk/, we have been there a couple of times and it is lovely. Would have definately considered it had we been getting hitched down south Smiley smile

I 100% recommend Rushton Hall. Not only the venue is second to none, but the staff are flawless in how helpful and efficient they are! Have photographed many weddings there and I can honestly say that even the suppliers feel special!

    Very much worth consideration!

Thanks for all your suggestions guys, she has been in touch with Dodmoor and fawsley but unfortunately cannot get the date she needs, I have looked at the others but they are all not really what she is looking for, either too modern or too grand. She is looking for somewhere where she can have most of the day outside, lawn games etc so any other ideas would still be greatly appreciated, I think she will be a bit flexible with area as long as it is travelable from Northamptonshire.

    Cheers ?

    Hi Naboo,

I am going to a wedding at Holdenby house on Friday and I am staying at Highgate House in Creaton overnight. They do weddings there. It seems a little smaller than Holdenby and they do mention extensive grounds.

    http://www.sundialgroup.com/weddings-ceremonies/highgate-house/overview

I can give you a better review once I've been on Friday. I'm not local to the area so I cannot recommend anywhere else.

There is place over towards oxford its not to far to travel (we did it from towcester around 30 mintutes) it is called Weston Manor. Its very impressive looking from the outside and does have beautiful gardens. The inside is pretty (slighty small), though we werent to keen on the rooms, they are in need of an update.

Castle Asby also looks really pretty, we had a brochure from them though I dont think they have accomodation.

    xx

Ask your friend to check out Kelmarsh Hall. It ticks all the boxes you mentioned!
