Anyone else got their house on the market?

Weather Girl, 19 September, 2010 at 18:12 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

How are you finding things? We've had ours on the market since the beginning of August, We had one viewer the week it went up for sale and for the last 2 weeks we've had one viewer a week. Yesterday's viewing seemed quite postive (fingers crossed) as she already lives just over the road but wants to downsize.

Dontcha just hate all the waiting!

Hi. It's certainly not a good time for sellers that's for sure!

We're currently buying a new house. It's early stages but the mortgage is slowly going through. This is our first house. We rented a house before but this was a house my parents' rented to us. They've decided to sell it on but they've had no interest at all and have been told to face a hit on what they originally paid for it.

The house we're currently buying we've managed to secure for £30k less than the sellers bought it for three years ago. The feedback I'm getting from agents is there just aren't many people even looking at the moment, let alone offering.

We think we've found somewhere but need to wait for someone to make an offer on ours before we can do anything. We went through all the mortgage stuff a while ago so we're pretty much ready lol. I hope we can get the one we like for £30k less, would be ideal. I guess it's all relative though, if we get less for ours in theory we should get the one we want to less. Only time will tell! Hope it all goes well for you.

We had ours on the market for about four months and had four viewings - all time wasters. We're not desperate to leave, just spotted a house we really liked and wanted to see if we could sell to get it. I think the market is really slow just now, everyone is scared to move and banks aren't lending out as much. Hope your recent viewing goes well Smiley smile

My friend had her house on the market for about 2 weeks when she accepted an offer. She has had more problems with buying than she has selling. For instance the first house she made an offer on was for a divorced couple and they kept saying yes your offer is accepted and the took it back and it went on for a couple of months before she gave up and has bought the house down the road from it instead!

The last time she bought a house she had almost completed when the seller pulled out. She is currently on tenterhooks with a completion date for 1st October. She don't have much luck!

The lady made an offer and we've accepted ?. She wants to be in asap so we're going to have to make our mind about the house we like and view any other possibilities. If we have to we'll rent but I'd rather we didn't. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Twf - hope your friend's sale goes through ok!

I saw a "for sold" sign in my street yesterday, the first one I've seen in ages, but its a really bad time to sell your house at the moment.

    Just keep hanging in there.
