Anyone know Andover...

....and the surrounding area?

H are looking to make a move next year and this area is looking like the best option.

I just wondered if any of you know the town and the surrounding villages. If so, I'd be really grateful for some local knowledge - where's good to live, where's not so good, etc. H will need to travel in to London daily (by train) and I am planning to find a new job so am more flexible.

Will try to check back at lunch time but thanks for any replies in advance .

    I grew up in Overton, which is about 11 miles outside of Andover. It's on the London Waterloo line, and has free parking at the station!

    Whitchurch is nice, as is St Mary Bourne.

    I went to college in Andover, but don't know the town itself that well anymore.

    Thanks to you both. Quincy, we had been looking at Overton so will look at St Mary Bourne now too.

    Claire, I'll hopefully email you later tonight and will try not to bombard you with too many questions. Thanks for your offer of help.

    I'm about 20 miles away from Andover, I don't know it well at all as I tend to work in the opposite direction, but just to say that Pewsey has a direct service to Paddington (1hr 05 mins).

    Thanks Soobo. Pewsey, Marlborough, etc. are also on our list so I'll definitely be looking more closely at them.
