Depends on what your qu is....

I'm not a GP but if it's something in my areas of expertise I'm happy to help.

Thanks R-A, I appreciate your time.

Basically a couple of weeks ago I found a tiny lump in my neck, smaller than a pea. I went to the docs who said it was a lymph gland and not to worry about it.

Last night I noticed another lump, bigger this time, probably a large pea! It's on the same side and just below the original lump.

I just wondered whether its likely to be the same thing? It's difficult for me to get to the doctors without arranging child care and also don't want to waste his time.

I do have a sore throat at the moment, not sure if being a bit ill / run down would make the glands more noticeable? I have never noticed them before.

Thanks for any advice you may be able to give.

Not a doctor but I do have swollen glands.

I find I get ones that feel like boiled eggs under my chin when I get a sore throat and run down, if I'm really bad I can feel peanut sized ones down the back of my neck and also pea sized ones behind my ears and they can be really painful.

My doctor told me to take ibruprofen as that should help reduce the swelling.

? hope you feel better soon ?

Well, as I said, I'm not a GP (more used to examining lymph nodes in the groin ?) but that sounds totally normal to me.

The lymph nodes collect the nasty bits and bobs that are produced when you have an infection so they are enlarged whenever you get an infection in that area.

If it stays up after your cold has long passed or it's worrying you I'd visit the GP but otherwise I'd be reassured your glands are doing exactly what they are there for Smiley smile

Thanks both of you, that has reassured me! I'll keep an eye on them, but at least I won't be worrying now!

    Thanks for your time
