Are you following any "diets" for the big day?

Hi, I am one of those brides who is trying to slim down for the big day. I have lost almost 2 1/2 stone so far since the beginning of the year. Thoroughly recommend SW it's really easy to follow with the new 'extra easy' plan - no red or green days etc. Good luck to you :-) How much would you like to lose out of interest?

My wedding diet got kicked off beautifully by a really nasty bout of food poisoning after a holiday in SE Asia, but definitely would not recommend!

I went on a ridiculous diet pre-wedding (I wanted the waist of a 9 year old girl) and became obsessive surviving on skinny lattes for lunch, being unproductive, bad tempered and emotional. Would not recommend. Relaxed a little and as was good going to the gym the weight didn't go back on.

Howevr, now after honeymoon and eating bread and cheese again I'm definitely not skinny but happy and not bad tempered and grumpy anymore! Going to get back to the gym though.

The moral of story is no faddy diets and no eating raw chicken Smiley winking

I briefly thought that the wedding might be good motivation to lose a bit of weight, but I'm just not a dieter. The problem for me is that I don't look particularly fat, as most of my excess weight is in my legs. Most people guess my weight as one to two stone less than it is.

I have started running more seriously again in the last few weeks, but it's a bit too late to make much of a difference (wedding on 1st Sept). Knowing that I could run faster if I lost a bit of weight is far more motivating than the wedding to be honest.

Good Luck with your weight loss plans though, my future MIL swears by Weight Watchers, every time I call round she updates me on how much she's lost in preparation for the wedding.

Yeah I agree and raw chicken really doesn't appeal :-) To be honest I'm not that strict. It's not just for the wedding, I guess getting engaged was the kick start I needed really! I also do lots of exercise so I can still enjoy chocolate, meals out etc. I want to lose another 7 lbs at least and the see where I am ... Wedding is may next year so still got plenty of time. Didnt end up buying the sort of dress I thought I would (surprise surprise) which would have required a lot of work incl an ultra flat tummy! I now have a dress I feel 100% happy with now and any more weight I lose is a bonus.

I tried and failed. But my dress holds it all in so I don't mind too much! I just lack willpower! Xx

I am constantly dieting, losing weight and putting it back on again. So unhealthy! I yo yo between 10 and 11 stone, get to 11, diet down to 10, put it back on up to 11, diet to 10... you get the idea! Would like to be at the bottom end of my weight scale for the wedding though, currently down to 10st5 and got 4 months to go so I should be ok. Have done WW very successfully in the past but don't like the pro points so am just cutting out the crap and eating low carb low fat meals this time round (along with zumba and the gym) and it seems to be working.

I did Weight Loss Resources - www.weightlossresources.co.uk - basic calorie counting but helped me lose 2 stone in time for my wedding Smiley smile Worked a treat and cost something like £8 a month.

I ate half a tub of b&J last night. Wedding diet will hit in August. That means I have a few days left of indulgence!

Nothing faddy, but I have been using MyFitnessPal site and app for a couple of months now, and have lost 6lb. I just wanted to get back to a standard size 8 so I look good on honeymoon. I stick (or try to) to 1300 calories a day, with more allowed if I exercise, and I run 2-3 times a week. MFP suggests that 1lb loss per week is sustainable long term, and calorie counting / exercise will have more long term benefits than any food-exclusion diets. Plus I can eat what I want Smiley smile

I am just tracking my food on myfitnesspal and trying to exercise in some form at leats 3 times a week. I set out to lose 12 pounds in 12 weeks and so far have managed 9 pounds in 12 weeks so something is working!

I am using that too but I am aiming for 1500 calories as I only want to lose 1/2 pound a week over the course of a year. My job is fairly active which helps burn off the calories and I have started going to the gym and going mountain biking.

I am trying to eat better foods but not deny myself everything all the time, just not scoff myself with bad stuff all the time which over the last year I have been doing.

My size 8 clothes still fit for the most part but they do feel a bit snug so I just need to lose a teeny bit and get rid of my fat bits which I am hoping the mountain biking will do as it is a whole body workout!
