Hi guys, never ventured off topic before but on the advice of ForTheLoveOfMrsBrown I've been asked to start this post.

So any questions about flying, I'll do my best to answer! Smiley smile xxxxxxx

How many languages do you speak?

    Is there a height requirement?

What's the worst type of customer?

(I'll leave the emergency/plane problem questions until later).

Is it true that you only sell off "extra leg room" seats to robust, childless people, in case you need them to help in an emergency? If so, what kind of jobs might you expect them to do?

Also, is it annoying when passengers go to the back of the plane for more drinks or are we allowed to? I've always been to scared to ask for another drink!!

I studied GCSE and As Level spanish at college, so am conversational at best but there was no requirement to speak a language at my interview. I know of some airlines that pay more if you do speak a language. There have definitely been times that I have needed to speak other languages though but couldnt.

Min height is usually about 5 foot 2 (its pretty hard to get to the back of the lockers, and im 5'5".) There's no max height at my airline but some airline have max 6"2' (for obvious reasons) - i know a tall guy that walks down the cabin on a cart and has to duck under each tv screen on the ceiling haha!

The worst type of passenger.... People with money but no manners, give me chavs any day!!!

How do you become cabin crew?

    Would you recommend it?

Does it pay well/have good perks?

How do you cope with the erratic hours?

Some do, some dont. it depends on the aircraft. Most are probably just the galley layout means they have to go a certain way. Personally I prefer facing backwards... even though i cant do it on a train (weird!) we have some forward facing crew seats and when the plane is swinging in the wind you can see the whole plane swaying and makes me feel green. We have different brace positions for both types of seat too, our heads have to be different to protect our necks.

This true to many, but not all! Pilots are the worst... happily married with kids at home but different people at work.

Lucky for me most pilots are old enough to be my dad and the male blokes are mainly gay so really no temptation there!! But hey, I'm the one on the wedding forum.. the single gals are a different story! Smiley winking

How can I get myself a honeymoon upgrade? Will a banner be subtle enough to let people know ITS MY HONEYMOON?

    Have you ever been panicked?

Have you ever been down the slide out of the plane?

    What airline are you with?

Emergency exit seats can be sold to anyone so long as

    *they are over 14

*they do not need an extension seat belt

    * they have no disability which impairs their mobility, either mental or physical

    * they are not being deported

    * they they are not a prisoner in custody of a guard

    * they are not elderly or frail

    * they are not sick or unwell

all passengers who purchase extra leg room are asked these questions but we are always faced with having to move people... uncomfortable for both the passenger and us as crew just doing our job.

In the event of an emergency where we would know we were going to land and possibly have to evacuate we are trained to ensure all our exits are manned with able bodied persons.... or abp's. The best abp would be cabin crew or pilots off duty, people, travelling alone, fireman, police or armed service. Someone to rely on under pressure to help us out.

I wish I knew how to get a free upgrade! without working for the company there really is no sure way of doing it i'm afraid. pure luck on the day!

hmmm which airline has the best looking staff.... I love Thai airways.. all the women are thin and beautiful and they have costume changes and different uniform for each service.. including saris and beautiful colours. i was gobsmacked and amazed the whole flight!

As cabin crew I can tell you I definitely do not frown on anyone ordering an extra gin!!!! Firstly most crew are on commission so its good there, secondly ordering extra gin means you wont ask us for more in 5 mins! And finally we are all borderline alcoholics who drink at 8am after a flight, and when we travel and aren't working we feel like caged rats sat in a passenger seat and Bombay Sapphire is the only way to go!!!! Yes you are allowed! It's a lot nicer to come down and peek behind he curtain and ask for a drink than press you call bell and be served there.

Obviously I am happy to do either but if you've just sat down with your breakfast with only 10 mins for a break and a call bell goes off and soemone wants a tea and you've just done a bar service... slightly frustrating but hey... it's our job.. dont feel bad!!! Smiley smile but yes definitely handier if you popped to the galley!

What are the hours like? So for example if you flew 8 hours to Dubai, how long would you get to 'rest' before flying back? Then how long do you get at 'home' before working again? Also I assume you get put up in accommodation when abroad, is it nice?

turbulence scares me for two reasons only

    spilling drinks on people

    people hurting themselves

sometimes when it's really bad my only concern is... i dont want to get chucked against a hard galley worktop and break my arm, i think i will strap in.

As long as you have your seat belt on - you are safe Smiley smile promise!

    Twice.

A couple of teenagers going on a group holiday to ayia napa and an old drunk couple, where the lady was performing a sexual act on the man under a tray table.

The teenagers were given a lecture by the manager about the diseases that can be picked up from an aircraft toilet... including gonnearhea and chlamydia and told them to get checked out pronto when they got there!!! she started crying and wouldnt speak to him for the rest of the flight ahahahah! great prank!

again i cant help on the uograde... if it's not flagged up at check in you probably wont get moved by the crew... theres not much time on boarding, we hardly ever get told this information and other people hate it when some get preferential treatment over others and we get hell for it!

I've been panicked a few times for different reasons.

i've only been down a slide on training... they are really high! but i hope to never go down one for real.

I think it's best not to say who I work for.... you never know who's reading this.... Let's say I work for a mythical airline called HitchedAir Smiley smile
