At what point did you think "eeeeeeek I'm actually getting married!"?

Icklefee, 11 August, 2013 at 16:59 Posted on Planning 0 24

H2B and I have been engaged for 2 years, started booking things for our May 2014 wedding in March this year, My dress and BM dresses are purchased but it wasn't until I ordered my veil today that it hit me. I'm getting married!!!! I think up until then it just felt like a huge big party but all of a sudden I have a veil so I'm a bride.

I haven't had it yet. I know I'm getting married, every 5th minute of the day sees me thinking something wedding related, but I haven't had a big 'OMG I'm getting married' moment (except for the realisation he was proposing ofc). Even when I was trying on dresses it was more of a surreal fantasy moment than anything... maybe it'll hit me when we get our rings?

I haven't really had it yet.

I think when it comes to a month or 2 to go and things are getting finalised I'll feel like that. I hope I do anyway!!

Im not sure I had that feeling and I got married last week! It was such a natural progression and I knew when I made the decision to go out with OH 6 years ago that I could spend the rest of my life with him - we was my best friend and it was a decision carefully made as I would not have lost our friendship for the world. I said to myself, HCWW, can you spend the rest of your life with him? Because if you cannot, do not do this. Turns out I decided I could and Ive never looked back or questioned it once!

I did get a rush with the first dress I tried on with the veil, though.

Since the wedding, I think the enormity of it has really hit my OH, he's been having terrible nightmares all week, poor boy, and I think it has finally hit home that there is some really big stuff just around the corner like kids and buying a house! Hahaha, bless them, what would they do without us?

Today I think! With 15 days to go we went for Sunday lunch at our venue with my dad and a family friend and it really hit home that the next time we'd be there we'd be dropping off our decorations, then it'd be the wedding day! CANNOT WAIT NOW! Eeeeeeeeek!

I've not had it yet either Smiley smile
Remember all the time but I think with the planning and everything it doesn't seem quite real yet.
It'll probably hit me going down the aisle or something too Smiley smile

Never! Not yet, anyway. We're well past the first flushes of giddy, excitable love- we've been together 11 years- so it's just the next natural part of the process! The ceremony will just feel like 'Wedmin' (as OH calls it!) but I AM excited about the party!!!! ? And the HONEYMOON! ?

We are too - in fact when I peed on the stick six months after we met and discovered I was pregnant that pretty much ended any giddyness - until I ordered a veil! My mother thinks I've lost the plot. She already thinks "at my age" I should just buy a little cream suit from Wallis and forget all the "nonsense". Oh I do hope it's here before she visits at the weekend, she'll have kittens as I prance about in it!

I had a moment when I picked up my wedding ring and tried it on next to my ER, it felt really real and we got so excited! I don't think it will fully hit me until the morning or when I arrive at the venue.

I kind of have that feeling most days, especially with the wedding so close now and finalising all the bits and pieces!!

I think for me it still won't 'click' even when we are married.

I often forget we own our home..and have a moment of realisation and happiness ?

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't feel like they're getting married.

I keep thinking how strange it's going to be to have a husband and be a wife but tbh I can't see it being much different to how we are now. We've lived together for 18 months so I can't see it feeling much different.

I'm still stupidly excited about the wedding and honeymoon though! ?
