My first wedding i wore red, and opted for champage coloured bridesmaids dresses with red flowers for them (white flowers for me) it all worked nicely.

With red i think it always looks better for the bridesmaids to be in an ivory, off white or gold (lighter colour light red, light pink) if they are in a vibrant colour then they may draw peoples eyes away from your red dress or they may just clash.

I wore red for my wedding. It all depends on what tone of red you choose and the material. I originally thought Ivory or White for the bridesmaids but when I tried it, it just didn't work. I opted for two of them in plum/rasin and two of them in olive and it worked really well. I had alot of people comment on how mice the colours all went together.

I would get a swatch of your dress and take it to dress shops and match it against their swatches for thier bridesmaid dresses so you can see what works.

Here's a pic of me and my bridesmaids:

    Hi Crafty em,

How did you get the hitched supplier symbol on your avatar? I don't seem to have one and I'm a hitched supplier.

    Thanks

    Aimee

Ooh managed to do it myself.

That's not my dress. I just took the picture ?

It was a loose Rockabilly theme. They had a 50's band play. The dress was a real head turner.

It is a big decision but the way I saw it was I wanted a red dress so was going to have one and we could work everything else around it :-)

My husband didn't know I went for red. In fact no one outside the bridal party knew. That way it was a big suprise. I didn't incorporate red in anything else other than my husbands cravat (which was only given to him 10 mins before the ceremony). My husband wore black.

Yes I'm a mobile makeup artist.

I'll be in red, my BMs will be in silver with a red sash/highlights. My BMs are my son and my niece, so we had to try and find something that both could agree on (teenagers - aaarrrgghh!) and that I liked too. We settled on her having a silver dress with a red sash and my son having a black suit with a silver waistcoat with red buttons and a red tie.

Fab yes I am keeping the same secret, he thinks the BM are in red as he wanted to know what colour scheme I am planning for fitting in the groom suits etc.

What area do you cover for Make up, we will get married in Milton Keynes but I live in Herts?

I would try and keep it a secret from as many people as possible. It's really hard but well worth it. Everyone was so shocked. People have told me that the whole room gasped when I stepped out of the bridal suite (I walked across a courtyard to the ceremony room).

I do travel down to Milton Keynes as I live in Birmingham but originally from Potters Bar so travel home quite a lot.

I don't think its a crazy idea at all.

You could either go with a nice strong red, or a more muted red, a few steps up from burgandy.

Or why not red accents? Maybe a red flower in your hair? Red shoes.

I think red and white is a striking combination.
