Budget wedding dresses

loves-young-dream, 23 December, 2013 at 20:36 Posted on Planning 0 17

Any ideas where I can find a good price wedding dress? Under £500? Theyre so expensive! I'm a but scared of eBay too even though they have really cheap nice looking ones, I jst don't believe they'll look like the picture! If you have good eBay experiences let me know!

Have you looked at sample sales?

I got my dress 1/2 price in a sample sale (£900 as opposed to £1800) but there were a few in your price bracket.

Worth a google search for them in your area.

Sample sales, or even the high street. Monsoon do a lovely collection of dresses, you could also get a lovely dress from one of the department store concessions - perhaps Selfridges or John Lewis, and net-a-porter do some lovely stuff too.

Also you could look on Pinterest - there's loads of wedding boards and people have probably pinned some budget options.

What kind of thing are you looking for?

Www.honeypieboutique.co.uk have some lovely fifties dresses for £149 ;-)

You can get extras like lace/polka dot/chiffon overlays or have them made with full length skirts for a little bit more money!

Swoon wedding gowns sell samples, end of sale and preworn dresses etc. They have a whole section on their website for dresses under £500.

Might be too far away from you - depends where you are in Hampshire?

I got my dress from Monsoon. I paid a little over 200 quid. I felt it was a good price and am happy with my dress. They do have some lovely ones.

There's a few bridal shops around us that do dresses from a couple of seasons ago. They start at around £300, £99 if they have a sale on. A couple of people I know have picked there's up for less than £400. I got my veil from one of these shops and you still get the same kind of service. Think they tend to be in towns rather than city's, sometimes they are factory outlet places. They do exist just need to find them!

That was my budget too - £500!

As people have already said high st places like monsoon, coast and phase eight do gorgeous wedding dresses.

It's also definitely worth looking on the sample sale rack in bridal shops, I got my gorgeous dress for £499 from a sample sale rack in a bridal shop.

If you are after a 50's style dress you could try Vivien of Holloway too.

One thing I would advise against if you can help it is buying a replica dress from china. Some people get great dresses from there and all is well, but at the same time a lot of people don't have the same luck, I personally don't think it's worth the risk but it depends on the individual.

I got my dress from a sale at a local bridal shop. All dresses were £300 on the day. Mine should have been £1000, others I tried on were £1500 but all £300 on the day. I need to pay for it to be altered but it's still half the price of buying it full price

I got my gorgeous dress off preloved for £300. I didn't want to spend more on something I was only going to wear once and went to the girl's house, tried it on and just fell in love with it. It's now got a story as well as they seemed a really nice family and got married the same day (2 years before) me. So heartily recommend pre-loved. But do factor in alterations (costing me an additional £150 or thereabouts) to make it just perfect.

My dress was from Phase Eight, under £500 but I did add the belt which was about £75. I didn't need any alterations either.

I am selling a Justin Alexander dress, it's an ex sample and I've not worn it as it's too small for me around the bust so I'm selling it to buy another dress that fits. It's 8609 if you're interested, size 14 Smiley smile
