Can I ask for help to choose a picture (again)?!?!

Gillsy, 30 October, 2010 at 19:41 Posted on Planning 0 30

Sorry ladies but (once again) I need help to choose a picture. My sister said she would get me and H a canvas of one of our wedding pics for a pressie and now, over 6 months after the wedding I'm STILL struggling to pick which one!!!!!

I'm down to 3 and H is struggling too and said "can you not ask your forum what they think" lol - so now I am.

Please vote 1, 2 or 3 and thank you in advance.....

Option 2:

3 is the one for me, but it needs a much better crop and framing

What would you do with it as a matter of interest??? How much would you crop and where???

The first one is the most interesting and candid (as you are both looking away).

Second one may be okay as a square print. The pebbledash brings the image down slightly.

The third is nice but your dress is too close to the edge of the frame. Would be good as a panoramic.

Aren't they all lovely, I can see why you're struggling!! I like two because its a closer up shot and you've got the bouquet in it too. There's something very arty about it!

Number one for me as I like the contrast of the darker sky and wall. I think the other two are overall too light and your dress gets lost in the whitness of it all, if that makes sense!

Either way, you're a very pretty and photogenic lady, I remember your Rock the Frock pics and they were stunning!

How Number 3 would be better off looking like (Quick 5 minutes in photoshop, the image has already been worked on so can't do more without the original file).

Number two! Definitely looks more arty BUT you are not standing together which then makes me say maybe one then! xx

I like the way the sky in no1 frames the picture but I think the two of you are a bit small in the photo for it to be a definite for me.

2 would work well if the top and bottom were chopped off to make it a more square print. You can see the two of you really clearly and it's the best shot of you in the dress.

Three is beautifully composed EXCEPT for your veil obscuring your hair. That little detail would niggle and niggle at me.

I can see why you've had trouble! I'd go for 2 if they can crop it for you.

Lol - most of those 5 mins will have been spent waiting for photoshop to load. when you do it day in day out (like chris and I do), you learn all the tricks, and simple stuff flies out

    Eight years of hard work!

I could do a perfect job if the original photographer hadn't feathered the corners.

Alternatively you can add to the image to improve the composition:

    Sorry

I wouldn't mind seeing the RAW file for No1. the face is in a shadow, and the sky is played with. If the faces can be recovered a bit...

Lol to the Loch Ness monster!!!!! Now, THAT would make a talking point for a canvas picture!!!!

I could send you what I've got (obviously not the original) but is 8MB+ so might have to zip it......

If you are going to get it printed, I would need permission from the original photographer

    Would you?

I'm all for copyright but if she has the High Res stuff then she's more than likely negotiated a deal to get all the images on DVD.

She can do what she likes with them from that point apart from using them commercially?

I like number two as it shows you both of better

But if the canvas is going say over your sofa then I think number one as it is now, or 3 photoshopped.

I love No 1, it's moody and atmospheric and would look great on a canvas.

No1 is not good because you are too far away.

I like No 2 but the wall is a bit distracting so I would go with no 3.
