Can I get a whoop whoop!?

Flowmojo, 1 February, 2011 at 12:29 Posted on Planning 0 26

OH just rang, ranting away on the phone saying he had a bit of paper in his hand that cost him £100 quid..........im like WTF!?!?!

Turns out todays the first day you in our area that you can book your registrar on a 'first come first served basis' rather then waiting for exactly a year in advance....so the little star walked to the registry office form his work (about 20min!) to get our time and date in their calendar and deposit down Smiley smile

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What, I'm confused! We booked ours 6 months ago (2yrs before the wedding!) and paid a £50 deposit for our date/time. This was then confirmed in writing.

illy, different 'boroughs' work differently, here in ipswich u had to visit the registry office on the day a year before you get married to get your date, so was always a mad rush..so 26th may this year we would have had to rock up at 9am to try and get our time in the diary which wasnt alwasy guarateed!! its £350 in total with £100 deposit.......they changed it to avoid the mad rush, so from today you can book up to two years in advance i believe!

That's brilliant, bet it's great to get another thingk ticked on your list Smiley smile I can't wait until Jluy when I can give notice in Northampton as you have to wait a year there whereas I have already booked my registrar in Scotland which you can do a week in advance Smiley smile

Think I might check up on their website to see if they are changing things Smiley smile

Ah, I see. Well they ought to let us do it so far in advance considering the amount it costs us! Nearly £700 plus the £50 deposit. Extortion!

    Good news for you though!

But Kent Registrars guarantee to have someone available - thats why they charge £700!

That reminds me, it's all booked and deposit paid but we still have to give notice - I'll put it on my to do list...

Does the £100 deposit come off the £350 fee then? Ours is in addition ☹️

I suppose, but I'd have said Surrey was more affluent and I know the fees there aren't as much.
