Can someone please help me before I have a breakdown!!!!

HatTrick, 25 November, 2009 at 13:37 Posted on Planning 0 22

I'm stressed. I thought I would try and sort some stuff out on my lunch break but now I've made things even worse. there's loads of things that should have been done with 3 months to go, and I have no idea on how to do them/what I want.

Hair- I have no idea how to have my hair! Google is doing finding nothing for me. I think i want it up, with a tiara and a veil. But I dont want the veil over my face, I want it sort of at the back of my head on top of my 'bun' or whatever style I have.

Cake- I was planning on having a M&S cake and lats time I looked they had square bases which you decorate yourself. now they've disappeared and the only do round ones. ☹️

If any of you have some pics of hair does that sound like thr kind of thing I want (i know my description was naff) I'd really really appreciate this.

I think i am going to find this planning in 3 months a lot harder than I originally thought. I applied for a new job, had an interview yesterday and the phoned me back within an hour asking me back for a second interview on friday. Of course I would absolutely LOVE the new job, but that would mean even less time to plan as I spend most of my time at work on here/browsing other wedding things/writing lists/updating my super duper wedding spreadsheet ?

And breathe....................

    Breeeeaaaathe.

You will be able to get the square bases in heaps of other places or on ebay so don't panic about that. I didn't know how I wanted my hair until I had a few hair trials so it would be worth speaking to your hairdresser and trying out a few ideas. I found magazines/google pretty rubbish tbh.

The new job will be good so you have another focus. x

Moonpig relax. I only work part time and i will help you if you want. You probably have it all sorted really, your probably just having a little wobble.

I dont have pics of hair does, but give me ten mins an i will go search for you.

Cake - I am a cake maker so im in my element. M&S are not the only ones who do these. Waitrose and Firkins also do them. And i also think ive seen them in Asda too. As for M&S if you contact them im sure they will still have them. Do you want me to get in touch with them? Have you any ideas how you going to decorate them, if youve got ideas i can advise you further on this.

Congrats on the job interview - i will be back shortly when i find som hair pics x

Aww thanks Emmamc01. I have no idea what i am going to do with the cake, we have the hire of a silver 3 tier stand with the venue. I dont want anything special, as cheap as possible, I dont even like bloomin cake!! How would you suggest decorating it in an easy and cheap way?

I think I am having a wobble, yesterday was fine but today it's really dawned on me just how much there is to do in the matter of WEEKS. I suppose working 2 jobs doesn't help!

I really need to get this new job before I get sacked for abusing internet facilities here!

    Firstly, congratulations with the job!

can't help with the cake but here is a picture of hair from my research:

my suggestion would be to schedule in your hair and makeup trial (if you are having one?) for early Jan or mid december. That way you can actually see how it is going to look and have a proper consultation (what looks good in pictures might not suit your face/dress/hair). and if you book it in, you might feel a bit less worried about that aspect of things because at least you know you have a solution coming up?

    Caaaaaaaalllllmm!

Your hair is not going to be a major issue unless you already have a fixed idea about what you want, which it sounds like you don't. Have a trial done and just give your hairdresser the description you just gave us, let her have a go at it and then work from that initial first style - tell her you want extra bits hanging down at the side, or want it pulled up tighter or whatever. I've ended up with completely the opposite of what I thought I wanted (wanted very straight but when I told the HD I wanted a sort of medieval "think merlin"? type style with most of it hanging loose she came up with uber curls and it looks fine).

Cake - I found M&S website quite tough to navigate and had to go into a special pre-order bit for the wedding cakes so it might still be there. Ebay is great for wee sugar flowers or ask your florist for a small cake topper for each tier - one less person to co-ordinate if your florist can do it.

If you have a spreadsheet it sounds like you're pretty organised as it is so just take a day (maybe Saturday) to get your head straight and work out a good list of what needs done then prioritise it.

    Good luck!

Now well as for the cake, the easiest way to do this would be to wrap a ribbon (in your colour theme) around the sides, and place some artificial flowers on the top. Try to match these with your flowers. Or only scattered petals also looks really classy. What about a cake topper? These can be usually quite cheap on the 'bay of e' and you could also get the flowers for it from there. Do a search for flower cake toppers. There is a supplier i think she is called flowers by clair she does a set of three flower toppers if your having a three tier cake!

    I will go and look.

Are those pics any good for hair dos?

Thanks everyone, you all talk so much sense!

The pics are fab thanks, I have saved them all and will show my hairdresser so that she can get a feel for what I want. I'm probaly just worrying about nothing and she will be fab when she does the trial but I was just struggling to picture it in my head.

Will sneak a peek on ebay when I can.

Thankyou for all your help eveyrone xxx

The girls have already been really helpful so I'm just adding my bit to say take a deep breath and count to 10............

Now, if there is anything you need help with let me know. I've got loads of pics and stuff stored on a pen. Project Wedding is brilliant for pictures though - I use it a lot.

Also, well done with the second interview - fingers crossed for you.

I think this was completely misunderstood and i am sorry if it doesn't seem to sound pleasing, i accept your feedbacks on this and i think we are all open to our opinions individually. well anyway moonpig25, i have to say this again without offending others and put it this way, if i were to have my hair done on my wedding day, i would choose to have it tied up with tiara on it and i love putting on veil... i was just thinking having my hair not tied makes a bit uncomfortable to move around especially during the reception.

    brienne,

wtf? yeah, because if she's fat, she's going to say, yep i'm a big fat lardar5e. crikey, i'm glad you're not my wedding advisor - nope dear, can't have that hairstyle, cos you're built like a brick sh1thouse. no can't have that veil, cos you eat too many pies and you are FAT. lovely.

and take your advertising elsewhere while you are at it.

    that is all.

anyway, MOONPIG, make project wedding your friend and take a deep breath. why don't you find a veil or tiara that you like first and find a hairstyle around that? or play about with your hairdresser - she'll be able to advise you what would look best with your dress and face shape. i had my hair half up/down - i hadn't even considered that before i had gone to my hairdresser.

and good luck with the job - i feel your pain in starting a new job right before the wedding, i was in my new job 10 days before going on honeymoon....

This has got to be one of the worst choices of words I have ever seen and really insulting.

Moonpig- Gather your troops around to help out- I bet many of them would love to get stuck in with you! Don't try and do it all alone x

Why say 'slender' to make skinny sound nice then say 'fat' not curvy or some other word! - Not that it matters, who gets fat hair?!

Any way,,, Hair... do you want bun, curly, loose or tight, neat, messy?

Hmmmm.... wat a lovely way of words you have Brienne. I find that very insulting and if I was 'fat' (which just for the record I am not) then I would be quite upset by that and you would have made me even more stressed than what I am now by adding weight issues to my problems.

Thanks for offering to help Tango. I was having a major problem with invites yesterday but have spoken to Prettywild and she's helping me (Sh'es FAB!) but I think you will regret offering as I will no doubt be harassing you for the next 3 months.... along with the rest of you who have offered to help.

Hairdresser is coming round on the weekend, she asked me if I had any pics of what I wanted and I said erm... yes.... so I guess I better get looking for some!

I think I want it up and quite loose. My hair is quite long, it just sits on my boobs ? that's the best way I can describe it!!! So maybe I could have some up some down, I'm not sure.

Why are these things so hard to decide!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your help everyone xx
