Carpet Stains..

At the weekend my aunty spilt the last bit of my coffee on the carpet which left a stain..also, the cat decided to do a massive sick and also left a stain..

I tried 1001 on it immediately and it didn't really work so yesterday got some vanish carpet stuff and that seems to have got the stains out but has left 'water' marks where I squirted the stuff and scrubbed/mopped up the residue.

FFS!! Brand new carpet!!! I am so cross! So, Ive google and apparently white vinegar mixed with warm water helps with water marks ..

Any tips? they're literally in the middle of the floor so can't hide with a carefully placed plant etc..

We've used the vanish mousse stuff before and it was brilliant. Is that what you used? Or was it a different type?

Bearing in mind, last weekend my H knocked a whole cup of coffee over and in the process of cleaning it up knocked a whole glass of cranberry juice over too, we scrubbed it straightaway and then moussed it and you can't see it at all

I used Vanish spray for carpets on mine after my nephew spilt hot chocolate all over my new carpet! Got it all out and I have also used it on cat sick so it will work on that!

Maybe I just need to do it again and leave the spray on for longer? Did you vacuum it after?

Have you got a steam cleaner?

With 4 kids, my carpets see lots of spills. I use a steamer, and it does the job.

No I sprayed it on, rubbed the foam in and then left it for 10mins, then blotted off the excess and gave it a rub through with my fingers. When it dries the stain should have gone

With the vanish mousse, you spray it on, work it in with a sponge and then vacuum when dry.

I've never been successful using any carpet cleaner as it always ends up looking bleached or doesn't get the stain out. I haven't tried the Vanish mousse though so I might give that a go next time my cat has been body popping!

No tips but I feel your pain. We have just ordered a "biscuit" coloured carpet, somewhat browny cream so I am dreading any of them being sick or toiletting on it. To think I was tempted to go with cream..must have been a bit mad that day!

Ours is biscuit coloured - our old one used to be a dark coffee colour which hid stains impeccably!
