Chocolate...

Noodle2Be, 1 December, 2010 at 20:44 Posted on Planning 0 19

We're thinking of having a bit of a chocolate theme throughout our wedding reception and we were thinking of having a chocolate fountain, but I'm now thinking about having a chocolate tower of chocolate covered strawberries and I wanted to know your opinions. Would you use the chocolate fountain? Or would the strawberry tower be more up your street? Also, so far I've only found one supplier of the strawberry tower, does anyone know of anyone else?

Also, instead of having a sweetie buffet I was thinking of having a miniature chocolate buffet, what do you think?

TIA!

I guess the difference is with the fountain, ur guests have the fund of dunking their bits ...ahem, fruit, marshmallows, cookies.... in the chocolate where as with the tower, there is less mess!

i think my venue had a strawberry tower on our list of options but i think they did them in house!

Lol alot of people think this - I recently completed a course of chocolate fountains run by the chocolate guild (!! yes there is a thing which I thought was pretty cool) and if it is run properly there is no mess ? it really just depends on how the chocolate fountain is run!

I think I would go for the tower of chocolate dipped strawberries, they look lovely.. But then I have 35 children potentially turning upto my wedding so I can just see chocolate everywhere with a fountain!

Amour Occasions that is true, here is a pic of a friend at her wedding a couple of years ago, her dress remained spotless until about 12:30 when she was waiting with the last handful of us waiting for taxis and decided to pick on the leftovers of the buffet and cheese and pickle sarni and the pickly dropped on her lap!! eeks!

Hi Nat ? Lol I can see why with 35 children coming! I asked this when I did the course and the guy from the guild said that children can be the best around the chocolate fountain, again just depends how its run! I think both will create a wow factor and how much you like strawberries - I dont like them at all so I guess Im doubly biased!! Im doing my first fountain hire in the new year its going to be great weve got backdrops and lighting and im going to project photos of the couple onto the back drop which is going to be fab (touch wood!!)

LOL Thats just sods law isnt it! There is a method with a chocolate fountain and the bride seems to have a paper plate which eliminates most if not all the mess. The only problem is with dips are around the fountain which makes it impossible for the operator to have any control over - their are 15 saliva based dieases so the chocolate guild state that its best practice and my local environmental health officer agrees its best to have a seperate table for the dips meaning the operator can be on hand to help with any enquiries or be shown what to do - not to take any of the fun away but just to make sure there is no mess and hygiene is top dollar!! My fountains are different as they have back drops which can be matched to the colour scheme and lighting to really make it a proper feature. Also as in my last post Im trialing a projector of photos of the couple onto the back drop its worked well in trials so fingers crossed!!

p.s the fountain is a great one it looks like a sephra 44" the same one Ive got!!

I would go for the chocolate fountain, purely because there is more variety, although aesthetically the strawberries are stunning.

Although I think the strawberry towers look stunning , I'd have to go with the fountain purely because my favourite all you can eat restaurant (classy I know, but its the only place I've ever encountered a choc fountain) has one and a full on sweet buffet on the same table as one of the puddings, so you can literally get a bowl of haribo, marshmallows, solid chocolate, cakes- anything! and just drown it in melted chocolate. It's *amazing*!

I think the strawberries would probably look nicer, but not quite the same kind of taste sensation as a bowl of random sweets covered in chocolate. Mmmmmmmm. I have an enormous sweet tooth!

Plus, if someone didn't like strawberries (although I'm sure there's no-one in the world that doesn't as they're amazing) then they wouldn't get to indulge which would be a bit of a shame. Or more for someone else hehe ?
