Christmas Outfits

(Claire), 3 November, 2011 at 13:34 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 21

Do you buy yourself new clothes for the festivities? When I was younger my mum would buy a new outfit for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Eve, so I inherrited this and up until 2 years ago I would do the same, I cant do it now I just dont have the money, but do any of you guys treat yourself to new clothes? I still get myself a new outfit for Christmas Day and I always alternate, so if I wear trousers one year Ill wear a dress the following year, is that weird?

Nope - we always have new PJ's for Christmas Eve (a tradition stolen from my grandparents) and a new outfit for Christmas Day

    Nope.

Whilst of course I may end up getting clothes as christmas presents, I don't specifically "buy a new outfit for Christmas day".

I've bought a new dress for a couple of functions over the restive period so I think I'll wear this on Christmas day.

We do that in our house (both new outfit and PJs). It's something I got from my Mum as she did this when we were little, and I now do it with my own kids.

This year, my youngest will be 6 months, so it is very likely he will be dressed as some Christmas novelty rather than a nice outfit. For the first half of the day at least.

Not for the day itself, no, though I'll sometimes buy a new dress for the office party if I can't think of anything else to wear (nothing overly exciting, a New Look or Matalan will do fine!). Christmas day is a day for not giving two hoots what you're wearing IMO since you're surrounded by your loved ones who wouldn't care if you turned up in a bin liner. Although if we were going to see extended family then I'd definitely make myself presentable.

For New Year I'd just wear the Christmas party outfit again since I'm not likely to be spending NYE with colleagues.

I have a lovely dress that has only been worn once (in Venice when we got engaged) so I'll probably wear that. I used to get new clothes for Christmas as a child but I haven't bothered with that in years. I get the children new PJ's for Christmas eve but not clothes as they often get lovely new clothes as presents off my Aunties and Nan so they wear some of those ?

Don't actually buy anything new, but I do like to wear something festive. My mum would always dress me and my sister in matching party dresses for Christmas Day when we were little.

I will usually get some new PJs, which I'll wear on Christmas night and I'll usually wear whatever new clothes I get on Boxing Day.

Mrs C, where are those from - I really like them!

I don't tend to buy myself aything new. We always used to make a bit of an effort with how we dressed on Chritmas day but my OHs family just wears ordinary clothes and since if we spend Christmas with my family, my brother hosts it and he just wears ordinary clothes, we tend just to wear what we have.

I have to have new clothes for Xmas day - whether they are a gift or self purchased I don't mind.

Last year I got some new Jeans and a top but hubby got me a gorgeous dress, cashmere cardy, and lots more clothes so I went with his choice!

We have new PJs for xmas eve... when I was young, my mum would send us all up for a bath, and while we were in there, Santa would come and leave us new PJs on our bed!

I like a new outfit for xmas day too. I have my eye on a gorgeous dress at the mo, but I would need fat pants with it, and I am not sure I can face fat pants all day after a huge xmas dinner!!!

My Christmas day outfit arrived today, yay!

    Twatbow dress.

I'll wear it with black tights and probably black wedge boots and a gold skinny belt to add a bit of festive colour.

Will be going out visiting family one the day so will have my warm coat on and matching gloves! If it snows, I'll also have huskies and a sleigh.
