Colours scheme / BM dresses....your advice needed

inalein, 25 November, 2009 at 10:13 Posted on Planning 0 6

Well, I'm finally getting organised (Hillier will be so proud of me ?.....Venue...check, Photographer...check, Piper and DJ...check and check, Dress and BM's...picked!

So now to the more creative decisions where I would appreciate your help ?. Here is my dress:

For my CBM (so she stands out from the 3 BMS) I was thinking the following:

And for the BM's maybe one of the following two

All would be of course matching my dress. Now what would you do about your colourscheme for the venue and flowers? Go for red and ivory as well? Or would this be a bit of an overkill? I'm a bit stuck with this, as red is quiet a strong colour.

Your help would be much appreciated as usual

    Hiya,

I saw that dress in a magazine and think it looks really nice. Your CBM dress is nice and i think the one on the right is the nicest dress as its still got a bit of white to compliment your dress. I wouldnt put red and white in the flowers as personally being supersticious i feel its bad luck but you could have just a single rose in your flowers if you wanted or just have your flowers and have like a ribbon or sash to co ordinate the bm's dresses. Id say have maybe a bit of red in your chairs by having a small cover with red and/or have maybe a red candle in the middle of the table to follow on the colour. Red is also quite a romantic colour too so candles would look really relaxing.

    Hope this helps?

Im also having my OH, dad's and groomsmen with a matching dickie bow in my colour scheme and my mum is making the ushers suits in that colour so we all match.

Oooh, where is the short red dress from?

How about red/orange/yellow flowers? They'd add a bit of contrast to the red and white if you didn't want everything to match. Black is also easy to match with red, but you might not want black at your wedding! E.g. I just found these pictures:

Thanks girls....venue provides most things, also the flowers for the tables, but of course they need to know my colour scheme. Was thinking about yellow as well, as we are getting married in August and it's nice and bright. The pictures look great...hmmmmm.

Flutterbye, all the dresses are Alfred Angelo.

I like! the longer red one is nicer, kind of nice to have all the BMs in the same length dress for pics etc.

i think red n ivory flowers might be a liiiittle bit too much. maybe add in another colour as well - lilac or yellow/orange or even hot pink...

Love that dress! For flowers I'd be inclined to go with almost exclusively white/ivory but work in some red ribbon/wire/raffia/crystals or something like that so that it's not too in your face. Silver could be added in too, or maybe gold (although that might look a bit Christmassy). Or someone suggested black - maybe a chocolate brown would give that same calming effect but be a bit less stark than black?

The dress is fabulous and you are right, red is such a very strong colour. well, you could still have red roses or any red flowers in your venue but i suggest you would go for a much more of white and minimal to red flowers as combination.
