hope, 6 September, 2008 at 20:33 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

During the week (and due to stress) I wake up between 2-4am and am awake for hours get back to sleep eventually - usually an hour before getting up - so I am really tired all day go to bed about 9.30 -10

At the weekend its not so bad but wake up at 7am and if I leave the house I feel awful and spend the afternoons dosing

This isn't normal is it ??

Nope. Get thee to a doctors. Sleep deprivation sucks. I've had one full night's sleep in the last year, but that's thanks to my small son...you kind of learn to function, but I wouldn't really call it living...

I had that last year, found myself asleep in the chair in the afternoon, but having a broken sleep at night. See your doctor and ask for some blood tests. I know that mines was due to my iron levels being in ma boots, but it could be a number of things. Hope you feel better soon.

How are you otherwise? How's your mood? You mention you're pretty stressed.

I only ask as waking up in the early hours can be a sign of depression (sorry to be so blunt, but obviously if you're feeling low otherwise, important to see your Doc)

Don't know your situation but is there any potential for taking time out from work? Sounds like you could do with it for various reasons. Your quality of life is obviously massively suffering.

I'd be tempted to try that first and see if it resolves before jumping in to investigate medically, but obviously do see your doc if you have any other concerns.

I have no holiday entitlement left as have booked two weeks off in November so short of signing myself off sick which is not really an option as it would only make matters worse I guess I have to ride it out for the rest of the month. I hope that the plans my manager has put in place come together to make my job easier. I guess I haven't been helping myself as have been working late which has had a knock on effect to not eating healthily and having no energy and being tired - to waking up stressing about the work I haven't done. Its all going round in circles

I am the same, I feel like an insomniac again. I suffered badly a few years ago.

I have finally got the baby to sleep through but now I wake up about 5 times a night and just can't get back to sleep. I seem to have a few wee dozes instead of a good long deep sleep.

I've found that listening to a hynotherapy cd (I used Glen Harrold) as I'm falling to sleep dramatically cut the number of times I would wake up in the early hours of the morning. Almost like it helped clear my mind before I went to sleep so that those things don't make me wake up.

We've got a CD player that has a sleep function so it turns itself to standby after the cd finishes (so it doesn't sit there humming away) and my husband is perfectly happy to have it playing at night as he finds he sleeps so much better with it too.

Might be worth a try? - you can buy / download MP3s from his website
