Converse

Chippet, 5 July, 2013 at 21:19 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi

I know a few of you wore or are going to wear converse for either all or part of the ceremony.

Im definitely wearing them for the reception, but trying to decide whether to wear them for the ceremony, if not will I have to wear flat bridal shoes, or will I get away with a small heel? Don't want my dress to sit funny when I put the converse on cos ill be a different height, IYSWIM?

Thanks

    Hiya

I've got a pair of personalised Converse to wear but i'm only putting them on later in the evening when the heels start getting a bit much.

The girls at my wedding dress shop did warn me about the dangers of tripping over my dress. My actual bridal shoes do have a heel but it's only small - maybe slightly higher than a kitten heel but they said it will still make a big difference and i'd have to lift my dress at the front when walking. When i've tried my dress on i've found i automatically lifted it to walk in anyway but i still need to be careful in it.

I decided not to wear them at the ceremony or breakfast as they really don't feel very bridal. I'm quite lucky though in that my actual wedding shoes are really comfy.

I never even thought of wearing converse! I think i'll probably do this for my reception now lol..not comfortable in heels anyway and I don't like the fact I become nearly the same height as OH when in high ones. I was planning on getting flat shoes for reception but this seems much better Smiley smile
Is there any way you can try them on with your dress before hand and see if the lengths akward? You would get away with a small heel though, I plan on that as my legs can't handle big ones

My entire wedding party (well, with the exception of parents, I assume, unless I can get my Dad into a pair) will be wearing Converse - yellow for the girls and blue for the boys - for the ceremony and the photos. The rest of the wedding party can change their shoes for the evening if they want, but I'll probably stay in my converse (not that shoes stay on my feet for long where drinking and dancing is involved)

The way I see it; the ceremony is the part where it's most important to be comfy - if you're uncomfortable/struggle in heels, wear Converse all day! Smiley smile

If you go to the Converse website, you can build a pair to your own design for about £60. Only issue is they take about 3 weeks to arrive. Definitely worth it though, mine look great :-)

One of my BM's does glitzy converse so the BM's, FMIL and my Mum will wear converse for the plane out but not on the actual day.

I'm getting my own designed Smiley smile Mum loved the idea when I told her, especially when I said I'm coloured coordinating and getting 'bride' printed on the back!

Ill get so much wear out of them. I have decided to wear heels for the ceremony. I think I'll walk more gracefully lol
