Cottons, Knutsford

Sam12345, 5 January, 2013 at 18:45 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi everyone.

Me and my other half are discussing wedding venues and I love cottons hotel and spa (for spa treatments), we don't want a church wedding and I noticed that Cottons offer a wedding package. We are going to see it but when we have looked on trip advisor the reviews could be better. I was just wondering if anyone had been to a wedding or party at Cottons and if anyone had any reviews

If not we are looking at venues between Manchester (my family) and Macclesfield (his) if anyone has seen any nice ones. We only want a small ceremony (about 20 guests) but a big reception (150).

Thanks!

We stayed there for our wedding (which was at the Belle Epoque on King Street). It was nice enough but a bit "conferency", very little character (in my cabbage). There isn't a great outside space, one waterfall was all I could see on my nausea-reducing journey around the grounds on the morning of my wedding.

We passed a wedding coming in as we were leaving for mine. We met them again in the bar when we returned. How do I say this politely? Not the kind of wedding party I'd be keen on. Of course, that's not the hotel's fault...

However, we did stay for many drinks at the bar after we returned and the staff were very friendly, helpful and not at all bothered about shutting up shop.

I have also only been for a spa day or two, never imagined it as a Wedding venue to be honest but it has been a couple of years since I last went.

We are having our reception at the Windmill Pub in Tabley- not sure if 150 might be too many but could be worth a look? Tabley House is nearby which is lovely for a ceremony ( we are having church otherwise that might have been an option )

We found there prices quiet expensive for what they offer, I would second tabley house for ceremony as this is where we are getting married then we are off to a golf club for the reception x

    Thanks everyone.

I have just come home from a spa day at cottons, have picked up a brochure and applied for one for the mere but will have a look at tadley house too

Think I might make the OH look at a few. Cottons package does look quite good compared to The Mere but think until we look round I can't really decide.

We've booked cottons for our wedding in march this year. We live in Cheshire not far from Knutsford altho I'm from south Yorkshire and my partner Liverpool.... So far so good with the hotel. Yes it's not Tatton park but it's perfect for what we want - 50 during the day, 130 for night. It's second time round for us both so I'm not all out on photo opportunities etc, for us it's getting those we love together to share our moment. I hope this helps, think about what you want, your budget (cottons is very reasonable) and ultimately what's important to you both.... Good luck x

Always been nice when I've sung there and the staff have all been helpful. In terms of your evening party, I prefer the downstairs room but it just depends on whether you'll fit 150 in down there. Also, the smaller room downstairs that tends to hold the wedding breakfast would be ideal for your very small sit down number.

Thanks for the good wishes. We went for our wedding breakfast taster last night and it was fab! Spoilt for choice but I think we've finally made our minds up. Good luck in your search and I hope you do choose cottons x
