Do you make your bed every morning?

HatTrick, 28 February, 2012 at 12:11 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 47

I've just been tidying up and made the bed and it occurred to me that apart from when I wash it and put the fresh sheets on, I probably haven't made my bed at all this year! ?

Is that awful?

I spent a small fortune on throws and cushions and I'd rather the bed was not made at all than made 'wrong' so I just can't be arsed to do it in the morning.

    Yes, that is awful!

I ALWAYS make my bed and so does my H. We have a whoever gets out last makes the bed rule; which is always me.

The very least I do each day is lay the duvet back out over the bed and neaten it!

Yea I do. The bedroom feels really messy if it's not made. My making of the bed is much neater than H2Bs attempts though, but he does do it without being asked so I can't complain.

Do you mean you haven't washed your sheets yet this year?!

Nooooo!!! I have washed them, that's why I said apart from when I wash them. I'm bad, but not that bad! I just mean on a day to day basis...

Nope - I don't. We employ the 2 duvet system in order to be able to share a bed, and as I am up and out before he's even awake I always come home to it unmade.

I don't think my OH has ever made a bed in his life.

Saying that, I'll roughly make it before I go into it at night. Freakshow that I am.

I always make the bed and put the cushions back neatly & put my pjs under the covers (sorry slightly OCD). The rooms looks wrong otherwise.

OH never makes the bed as he stumbles straight from the bed to the shower so I tidy it when he's in there.

What do you gain from making a bed? Nothing!

That's what I say to my hubby when he moans that I haven't done it.

I just think it looks a pigsty when the bed is left unmade. PLUS - a made bed is much nicer to get into! ?

I can't leave the house without making the beds.

My routine is Straighten the sheet, plump the pillows shake and smooth out the quilt and display my cushions in a pyramid formation. The same for DS bed except he has teddys laid out on the pillows in size order. ?

That's alright then. One can be messy but clean!

If you hadn't washed them for three months, I would think that's a bit ming, whether the bed was made or not!

Oh God, I couldn't get into my bed at night if it wasn't made (that's a little bit weird isn't it?)

H2B makes it during the week and I make it at the weekends!

Maybe I should just ditch the throws and cushions. It would make it much easier then and I might be more inclined to do it.

    Erm.

Rarely in the morning but always before Mr Cricks gets in from work. I like to ensure my fabulous wife status remains intact ?

(An unmade bed irritates me but I just.can't.be.arsed when I get up. I tend to do that sort of dull task at lunch time).

Me too. And always fully make it as soon as it has aired.

I can't bear crumbled bottom sheets. And my H can crumple for Britain.

I fold my duvet back as I get out of bed. I never "make" the bed unless it's just after I've put sheets on. Doesn't bother me at all, and I get up long before OH so wouldn't want to wake him by fussing over it too much. Can I join the lazy tramp club?

Not everyday, just throw the duvet over most days. My OH never makes it. I like to always get in the bed first when it has clean sheets on though, even if it means going to bed at 8! if he tries to go to bed before me on said days I get the right hump!

H doesn't, he leaves it in the state he got out of it. I don't "make" it, but I do straighen the pillowcases and duvet and pull it back to air the mattress. H thinks I'm talking twaddle over airing the mattress, but my mum always does it, so I've copied her.

More often than not i am out before H gets up and he "so calls" makes it and it drives me mad! I come in straight through the door, into the bedroom and more often than not, have to dump my bags on the floor, re-make the bed and then unpack said bags. Really irritates me ? that i have to do it. If im the last one out of the house, bed is always made, PJs under pillow, bottom sheets straightened and pillows plumped!!

And dont we all just love FRESH CLEAN BEDDING??????

Nope. H is usually still in it and would get grumpy if I tried to give him hospital corners.
