Does this look right?!? **FLASH - Extra photos added!**

NikiST, 30 March, 2011 at 23:20 Posted on Planning 0 32

I have the BHS bridesmaid dresses in fuschia but for the life of me I could not find the same shade of flat shoes to match the dress... so I decided to incorporate the other colour into the dresses by buying sashes to go around the waist and tied up at the back. I have modelled them for you all..

Apologies for lack of breasts! This is my MOHs dress and she is bigger chested than I, and the dress is 2 sizes too big for me...

This photo shows the colours off better;

And here are the shoes I bought to go with them. Do the colours look alright together? These are the only fairly cheap silver/grey shoes I found that don't look cheap (lol). I've no real way of taking a pic of me in the soes and the dress with sash so you'll have to use your imaginations!

Here are both pairs of shoes taken in daylight so you get a better idea of colour;

Matalan pair;

Cheap Primark pair;

    PS.. the sashes have been badly tied up by me.. hence no back shot! At there is astill a crease in the sash from where it has been folded and stored.. that will be ironed out.

    I've had real problems with bridesmaids shoes. One of my bridesmaids doesn't wear heels and she is already very tall so she needs flat shoes. The only flat shoes I have seen have been White or ivory. I can't find fuschia ones anywhere. So silver or grey was the last option. I went everywhere looking for a decent pair of silver ballet style shoes to no avail. I found a pair in Primark but I don't know if they look maybe a bit cheap? Or theres these ones which are from Matalan. If anyone has seen some decent silver flats at a decent price then please let me know as I have struggled with this the most!

    Have you checked ebay I found no end of shoes suitable for one of my BM (she only wears flats but then decided she doesn't mind having a bit of a heel as much as a kitten heel). I found silver satin ones with diamante detail across the foot part, they are lovely and for just under £25 incl delivery I was well chuffed as was she when she saw them and they fit horrah X

    Marks and Spencer have silver ballet pumps in store for £20. Only problem is they are in whole sizes...... I need a 6 1/2 and the 6 was too small and I could have gone canoeing in the 7!

    Hi

    Have you tried getting a white pair dyed? I know Rainbow Club do this as I did exactly that for my BMs at our wedding. You send the swatch of fabric off matching the colour you want and they die them for you. They did a really good job on them.

    Have you looked at Dessy?

    They have every colour Ballet Pumps:

    A friend of mine has a shop in Bristol that stocks them:

    Hi all, thanks for replies. I've tried eBay but I need two pairs the same as I have two adult BMs, the only places on eBay I've seen where I can buy two from the same seller seem to have only leather look cheap types.

    I have tried every high street store, including Next, New Look.

    As for Dessy, originally I tried to get hold of the fuschia colour but was told I'd have to order them in from the US which meant they'd end up being about £30 a pair. They only stocked a small selection of the colours in the two shops I visited that sold Dessy shoes. These colours didn't include silver or fuschia.

    I have thought about having them dyed, I asked on here a while back how I'd go about doing that and how much, I couldn't find anywhere that could do it for me.. I got so fed up with the whole shoe-gate as it's just annoying me now and I wish I didn't have such awkward BMs. I was sure I'd be able to find something nice in a high street sorrel but o ly came across 2 pairs. One plain silver pair which look flimsy and cheap and these ones. All the others were too shiny or had horrible things stuck on the front. Seriously going to give up soon and have my BMs bate foot at this rate!!

    Most of the silver shoes I see are too shiny as the dress is taffeta and it just doesn't look right together. I need something in a nice satin material like the Dessy ones but I haven't seen any like that online or otherwise.

    Why do you need them both the same? Maybe its something you have decided that you want them to be the same, but I've let my BM's get their own shoes so they can put their own stamp on their outfit and also get something they can wear again. I've just said they have to be ivory!

    I cant really compare the colours properly as photos are great at catching colours. They arent going to be right next to each other anyway so as long as they are similar colours I cant see it mattering too much. Paying to have them dyed or buying Rainbow Club shoes will be expensive - I guess it depends on how much you want them to match exactly?

    I like the sash btw!

    I had problems with my BM's as well - 2 are so tall so wanted kitten heels & one is short so wanted heels. I ended up getting silver kitten heels from next @ £20.00 and high silver heels from debenhams @ £17.00 (£22 with a fiver off - bargain! Though my dresses are long so I wasnt bothered about them not wearing the same.

    Although Ive actually ended up spending £40 on eahc of their shoes as the previous ones I bought had crystals which caught their dresses! And i'd had them too long to return them Smiley sad

    Hi Niki what about these shoes here they are in the childs section but go up to size 6 in adults and are only £12 they look like they would go well with the sash and the pink taffeta xx

    Well my MOH has sciatica which means she can't really wear any kind of heel, my other BM just doesn't wear heels, so they'd both need flat shoes. I guess it just makes sense to have them matching as they're having the same type of shoes? I asked both what kind of shoes they wanted and they said it was up to me. I spent the day at The Mall and Cabot Circus (Bristol) on Monday trying to find silver shoes that look right but to no avail. I was so disheartened by the end. I just wish my BMs could wear heels as it'd make it so much easier as there are loads of silver and fuschia heels about!!

    I think I really need to get my MOH to try everything on for me so I can see how it all looks with both pairs of shoes and make a decision from there. Who would've thought the BMs would be harder to buy for than fussy me?!

    I prefer primark ones - they are a bit dressier looking with slightly pointed toe and a nicer colour in my opinion!

    Do they have to have flat shows?

    My BM's have fuschia pink dresses and I have got them these shoes and they look really well with the dress:

    http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/shoesandboots/89/6?extra=sch&n=women&pid=401-332&returnurl=%2fshop%2fgender%2dwomen%2dcategory%2dsandals%2d0%3fx%3d1%26cnt%3d260%26nxti%3d0%26nxtv%3d0%23401%2d332&bct=%26quot%3bShop%20By%20Product%26quot%3b%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bWomen%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bSandals

    They have them in silver and also ivory if you wanted to have matching shows

    Ok Will dress up later and get H2B to take a pic of the outfit as a whole so you can give me your opinions. The Primark do look cheap and horrible but I suppose once they're on, and you can't see the garish insole, people might not be able to tell the difference! They were only £3.50 a pair!!!

    I would love my BMs to wear those but neither of them are heels people. My MOH has sciatica so she wont be able to stand in heels for more than about an hour tops and my other BM is my sister who is into converse and the likes.. she dislikes heels with a passion. But thank you anyway. I did consider those for myself actually. xx

    Have you considered blinging them up with hotfix crystals? or a bow, or a clip or a flower or something to tart them up a bit?

    I'm gonna start to sound really brat-like soon... they're not the same shade of pink as my dress and it'd be a bit of a mistake to get hot pink shoes to go with fuschia dresses as hot pink is an entirely different shade of pink. The dresses are quite a deep pink. But thank you anyway. I did come across those when I was looking for fuschia shoes. I soon gave up with the fuschia shoe idea because they are impossible to get as ballet pumps unless I pay £30 a pair and order them from overseas where I may get charged extra for import tax. xx

    Thanks Jaijai, they're nice but they really need to be a solid colour otherwise they really will look a bit odd! I'll be back on later with pics of me wearing the Primark shoes I already have so you have a fair idea of what the outfit will look like as a whole and if it doesn't work, then I will just keep on hunting! Or get my MOH to hunt about for me while I sit and have a cuppa and relax for a bit.. ?
