Done before, but 1st anniversary present help perleese?

R-A, 17 June, 2009 at 20:04 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Sorry, I know this is a frequent topic but please humour me.

I'm stuck for ideas for our 'paper' anniversary in 3 weeks.

Can you tell me if these are totally lame? Honesty appreciated ? And any other ideas?

Ideas:

Voucher for an 'experience' of some type - don't know what though! Doesn't do golf or sports cars.

Nice book/nice edition of book (he's an avid reader but I can't think off the top of my head of a specific book to buy)

Years subscription to the Grauniad

Something to do with a wedding photo: printed out/framed?

Something homemade/crafty/personal... totally uninspired as to what though.

Nice recipe book - unfortunately we have most of the decent veggie ones already I think!

Tickets to concert/theatre - no particular inspiration as to what though. We did Avenue Q for his birthday which was awesome but can't go again.

Last and definitely least romantic! - book on veggie growing as we have recently started to 'grow our own' veggies in window boxes.

Aargh I'm so crap at this!

TIA ?

I got H tickets for Paul Weller, he got me a orangutan (?sp) sponsorship for a year which included a paper certificate.

I'd quite like a gift experience of wine tasting/ vine yard visit, so not a lame idea.

A collegue got her H a photo-book of their relationship so far from Snapfish I think. You up load your photos and you can write comments on cetain pages/ against certain photos. I personally find that a bit twee.

What about voucers for a favourite restaurant?

I bought H a poetry anthology, which had the poem he read to me during his wedding speech in it.

He bought me Nigella's Feast and beautiful paper roses, which I still have.

We also stayed the night near where we got married and then went back to the venue to look around followed by afternoon tea.

Thanks guys, it's good to hear what others have done.

I'd love to go away for weekend but H works Saturdays and Mondays which sort of scuppers weekends away in termtime ☹️

Whoever said about wine tasting - that's really got me thinking, thanks! He's started really getting into wine recently (me, I can just about manage whether I like it or not ?) so I've just looked at Vinopolis (which I've walked past a zillion times but never been to) which looks quite cool - anyone been? They also have a ceilidh on the week of our anniversary but that's more my thing than Hs ?
