Dress distress!

LEMBS8, 22 September, 2011 at 21:39 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi Ladies,

I feel like I need someone to talk me off a ledge! I bought my dress a few weeks ago - well we ordered it and my mom put down the deposit which was half the cost of the dress. It is a gorgeous dress but I'm having second thoughts. There was another dress I tried on a few days prior with my bridal party that everyone loved. I really liked it too but wasn't 100% sure...why I'm not really sure. It was one of those things where I couldn't put my finger on it. Anyway, a few days later we went on a second trip and I found the dress we ordered. There are so many things I love about the dress but now looking at pictures of myself in both, I'm wondering if the first was actually the one and I'm starting to freak out. I feel like the first one might be more me and the one I chose is too trendy or not elegant enough. Has anyone else had the same anxiety? Should I take it seriously or just stop looking at the pictures?! If I wait until I have my first fitting at Christmas and don't like it, it might be too late (getting married in April 2012)! And my mom will have spent loads on it! Help!

Do you have any pictures of you in either dress or can you tell us which dresses they are?

To be honest am probably not much help as i keep having fliting wobbles about my dress! I like the one i have, no doubt about it and def thought it was the one when i decided to purchase it (have now paid it in full) but cant help but keep going back to another dress i tried on that i also liked!

Hi there. I have had this with dresses. I tried loads and just didn't get the feeling everyone goes on about. I have now finally put a deposit dow on a dress but will have dress wobbles until the day!! Every dress I tried was lovely but now I wonder if the others suited me better etc. I think its quite normal. I now dont look at any dresses unless someone flashes their dress and its helped loads. Do you have any pictures of the dresses??? xx

I am the same and keep looking at pictures of my dress and thinking did i decide too soon? However i think no matter what dress you pick you will always feel this way as you dream of your dress as a little girl. You have pictured your day and when it actually comes to picking everything you put so much pressure on yourself for everything to be perfect you start to doubt yourself. You have picked your dress for a reason and im sure you will be gorgeous and your h2b will think so also however we all do like a flash Smiley smile

Thanks Ladies! I know, I probably just need to take a breath and stop looking at the pictures! I told my h2b and he of course said I'd be beautiful in whatever I wore - good answer! - and then reminded me that when I got back from choosing the dress I was sure I made the right choice. Sigh... I'm slightly afraid to post pictures in case my worst fears are confirmed but here goes... The second one is my dress, the first one is the one I'm wondering whether I should have chosen. And please forgive the funny face I'm making in the first one... it was the best picture of the dress.

The second one is much nicer IMO and much more flattering. I don't like collars like the one on your first dress. I would pick the second one every time. I also think you look much happier in the second one. DEFINITELY the second one for me!!

I'm not going to say which I prefer in case you've been sneaky and switched them around to confirm your thoughts!! ?

They are both lovely dresses, my advice would be to STOP looking at the pictures and stop over-thinking it! On the day when you get into your dress you won't be thinking about the other one still, you'll be thinking 'this is the dress I'm going to get married in'!

I think you look amazing in both dresses, you have an incredible figure!

I actually don't like the collar detail on dress number 1, and I think the neckline on dress number 2 suits you perfectly.

I think you made the right choice and have absolutely nothing to worry about!

Thank you all! I am reassured now that I chose the right one. Phew! I do love it and I'm sure when I put it on again, I'll feel even more sure and excited. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that planning for such an important day comes with alot of stress and wobbles! Let's hope there aren't many more Smiley smile

I know how you feel, I have almost the exact same situation. I have bought my dress, its sitting in a realtives wardrobe, but looking at pics of my 2 faves, I cant help feeling perhaps the other one was the right one. I cant pick between them and now I have one I cant just go try them both on (they were from diff shops anyway). Wish I could stop the thoughts but guess we have to go with what our heart told us at the time.
