Dress shopping part deux

*gnashers*, 21 July, 2012 at 20:27 Posted on Planning 0 24

So today, I went with mummy bubble to Ellie Sanderson in Beaconsfield. What a fabulous dress shop it is. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it. Lovely service, and although the samples were all too small for me, they put them on in such a way that you wouldn't really know!

And I have two clear favourites. Both well at the top end of my budget but we shall see what we can do about that!

This is probably my favourite

But this is close second...

Wow to them both! They are stunning, personally prefer the first one but I don't envy you having to choose ?

They were both lovely. The second choice is probably more what I imagined myself in, but there is something about the first one. And the fact that I am a size 14, and the sample was a size 8, and I STILL thought it looked lovely, makes me think how nice it could look in my proper size.

I would probably have shorter lace sleeves on the jacket as I get really hot (especially when I am excited, nervous, all the other emotions you feel on your wedding day!).

They both blow my dress budget out of the water, so I'm going to do a proper dress shopping day with my BM's in a couple of months, and see if I can find anything that compares.

They are both lovely but the first is my fav.

Is the lace top attached or a removable jacket?

I'm having a similar top made but I'm getting married in December so don't have to worry about getting too hot. The neckline is gorgeous!

It's removable, so I would wear that for church and dinner, and then take it off and add something else for the evening.

Jojo85, I would deffo only have short sleeves...I tried the jacket on and within minutes, I was itchy! I don't know how K Middy did it!!

Gorgeous! I LOVE that second one, so pretty and it looks like it really gives the model a nice shape in the waist area.

That's what I'm planning to do too.

I think how itchy it is really depends on the type of lace and how tightly it is fitted. I'm usually really bad with stuff making me itch but the lace I'm having didn't bother me at all. The other possibility is that the top in the shop has been washed a few times and I know I'm quite sensitive to some washing powders. Did it itch at your neck line or just the sleeves?

I LOVE both! I adore Sassi Holford gowns. I think the first is more elegant and the second more 'sweet' (but not in an offensive way if that makes sense) I would be totally paranoid about sweating wearing anything that covered my underarms as I do tend to perspire when excited like you. I was glad to have a strappy dress but with the pits free! When I put my dress on I was immediately toasting. It's v cool that it comes off though. Love it!

They're both gorgeous, but I prefer the first one. I love the full bodice (right word??) on it. I think the 3rd pic of the lace cover up thing would look amazing, but would go better with the first dress as it looks like the bottom of the lace would be in line with the band on the waist of the second dress which might look a bit odd, IMO x
