DVD Workouts

PhoebeBuffay, 28 April, 2008 at 18:42 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 21

Right, I need to get my finger out and whilst there is a gym quite near to me on camp I could use, it's finding the time to actually get there. So, which fitness DVD would you recommend? My Mum has Davina's one and says it's fantastic but are there any better ones?

Thanks.

Also, lateral thigh trainers.....worth the money?

I've tried loads. Only one I'd rate is the billy blanks tae bo vol. 3.
It is fantastic, you tone up in no time. And he a genuine instructor, not just a celeb in it for the money.

As for the LTT, it's shit.

Tae Bo. Billy Blanks is actually nice and not smugish? like some of the other dvd celebs. I actually dont wish to turn him off when it gets too difficult and he admits that even he goes off balance and does not do things perfectly all the time. Plus its a bloody good workout..and I should actually start doing it again.[:I]

I ve got Davina's HIgh Energy 5 and its brilliant.

I normally do two sets three times a week. The aerobics is absoloutely exhausting!

I do think Davina is a bit smug in it however you can switch her off and just listen to the music if you prefer ?

I've got the Davina High Energy 5 one as well - it's not bad, but I find her a bit annoying to be honest. I must try to work out how just listen to the music and not her!

I lost a stone on the Charlie Brooks (Janine in EE)one last year.

Have since put in back on again, though doubtless if I can motivate myself to stick it in the machine I could lose it again.

I also like the billy Blanks Tae-Bo workouts. He's quite cheesy sometimes but it's quite funny really and lightens the workout a bit

Yeah it is, but then I haven't really moved, I'm still at home. I was born in Salisbury and married a soldier ? Moved a bit away from camp last year but has its good and bad points, miss my friends on the doorstep when hubby's away but love having my own house!

Oh so right local lass then, I haven't been to Salisbury since we went to a memorial thing the other year.

I can imagine there are good/bad bits and yes the support when they are away is good, well actually it was pretty **** when I was in RAF as ex was/is RAF as well. I can't actually imagine moving away, son and I moved into an ex military house and he's settled here and all my friends are here, so would hate to move away and start again.

At least you can do what you want to your own house and not worry about painting back to magnolia or march outs etc ?

Think I was particularly lucky when he was away last year, my neighbours were fab.

God march outs - argh! One was plenty for me thanks. We were in that quarter 4 years, all the 3 bed ones we were offered were minging, old kitchens etc so ... it was buy then or make do! Hubby prefers living "away" from camp (ie about 2 miles ?)

Thankfully with his job we shouldn't move far, he'll probably be Larkhill for however long he serves for.

Great neighbours are good and it's nice as everyone is in the same boat with the blokes away.

One march out was plenty for me as well, saying that the quarters here are pretty nice, I was in mine for 3 1/2 years (RAF give pregnant servicewomen MQs) and they had just finished doing a new kitchen before I moved in.

You live 2 miles away from camp ? Bless him, I guess it's just nice to feel like you get away from work/from camp and from people you work with.

I know he's easy pleased ? He was so glad to be out the block when we first met!

Our quarter was lovely too, just a shame it only had 2 bedrooms! Otherwise I'd have stayed there forever (we've got 2 kids). We had a new kitchen, new bathroom and new carpets just before we moved in - hence being fussy over a 3 bed house!! Ah well shouldn't need to worry abotu that now!

I bet he was, think everyone wants to get out of the block, although I like living in them, hated my neighbour as we were on opposite shifts and she was a noisy cow.

I miss paying peanuts for the house, bet you do as well, that was a huge perk.

Oh god yeah, cheap housing. Just so glad we were lucky with our quarter!

So have you decided on a DVD to go for yet then?!
