engagement ring *flash*

knitting_vixen, 5 January, 2011 at 13:32 Posted on Planning 0 141

Hi ladies, well, I got my engagment ring back from the jeweller and now it fits like a glove (if a glove had only one finger).

I thought I would use it as an excuse to flash, would love you all to flash yours (if you a man, please flash your b2bs). I know this gets done every couple of months but I never get sick of it. Maybe you could also include a line or two about how you got it/picked it...

This is what my fiance chose for me. It's vintage and I love it. I am a big vintage fan you see and he knows it. He proposed on one knee with the ring, in Trafalgar Sq in September last year. I was shocked, even though we had been together for 9 years!

Ooo lovely. Is that one main diamond in a cluster of diamonds? Shame the computer doesn't show it up properly.

Because it's so blingy and sparkly! You'd worry if it photographed well because it was a dull old stone!

I think that the problem is that diamonds sparkle better in dim lighting- not the best photography conditions!

    Your ring is bl**dy gorgeous!

<---------- Is mine in my avatar pic. Not a great pic though!

Rings are hard to photograph especially when they are being all sparkly!

This is the beautiful 0.75 carat diamond ring that H2B had made for me (his mate owns his own shop in Hatton Garden!!!) - he had been sneaking up to London to choose diamonds for weeks and I had nooo idea!!!

And this is the engagement ring I bought for H2B on our anniversary last year... he wanted to wear one too!

    Hi ladies,
Here is my engagement ring, which I got on 28th Nov 2010. I LOVE it! It's from a local designer here in Glasgow. Meant to say, I've only recently joined this forum and have no idea re-posting etc so excuse me if I haven't done this right :-)

Thanks, yes, it is a bit different - she has a diamond wedding band to match which we're also gonna invest in :-)

It would be rude not to!?

Here's the terrible photos of mine, as promised.

(excuse the awful nail varnish! The lady in the shop actually told me off for wearing it and gave me a lecture about having a nice French manicure for the day itself!)

lovely rings guys... all so different, that is what I like.

Mynnie, if I blur my eyes they look clearer- I rather like the sparkly polish- I feel like getting some on me way home!

San Mack, I love how different yours is. Looks rather art deco.

Mrs C, yours is lovely, how sweet that he was making all those trips to the jewellers on the sly...

I love the stories behind the rings.

H hadnt proposed at this point, but had marched me into a jewellers to get measured. Once he knew my measurements he proceeded to let me try on rings in any jewellers we were passing... I liked this one, but I liked that one, and i like how this one goes like......... so in the end I got my ideas together and showed them to my best mate.

My best mate got her ER made by a chap in london based on her ideas.

She sneakily sent my ideas down to London, the ring was made and then sent to her house.

H went to collect it one evening, a few days before christmas and he proposed with the ring on xmas day 2008. 6 months after I had initially designed mine. I was totally and utterly shocked as there was my design. Within minutes my best mates texting 'Well????!!!!!!' lolol and here it is... 7 diamonds set in platinum..

and art deco design became the staple of my vintage/40s wedding....

This is my first ever flash so hope it works. This is my ring. I love it. He chose it himself and I don't think I could have chosen better. His reasons for choosing were that it's symmetrical (excuse bad spelling), quite ar deco in its lines, and the band itself narrows on the top. I am not used to wearing rings and wouldn't have liked anything too chunky. I love symmetrical things and art deco - goes to show he does listen to me waffle on ?.

    Here it is in situ

Anyone else having to have a wedding band made to fit their ring?

Ooh, don't let the lady in the jewellery quarter hear you say that! I felt like a naughty schoolgirl after she'd finished telling me off - I wanted to hang my head and scuff the toe of my shoe along the floor in shame!?

This is my engagement ring, as you can see it's pretty unconventional. I'm not really a diamond person and I wanted something totally unique. OH had this custom made for me in New York. It seems to have te marmite affect; you either love it or hate it. I LOVE it!!

On the evening of our first anniversary last June my OH decorated the gazebo in our garden with fairy lights and took me outside to give me what I thought was an anniversary gift. He gave me a handbag which I'd hinted I loved when out shopping a couple of weeks earlier, and inside was another gift... the ring! By the time i'd worked out what was happening he was down on one knee asking me to marry him! Lovely and romantic except I was crying so loudly that the neighbours started looking out their windows, and my mascara was running so much that my eyes were stinging and I couldn't open them! lol.

All lovely guys, keep em coming.

Mynnie, if it makes you feel any better, I actually went out and purchased said varnish and have it on today. The cheek of a jeweller telling you off! It's not like it was chipped or anything.

Mr Spoon proposed with a necklace as he knew I would want to choose my own ring; the next weekend we went ring shopping together and I'm so glad we did, we had a lovely day. I wanted something simple and not too big, but the standard plain solitaires weren't really doing it for me. I was beginning to think we wouldn't find anything at all when we went to an independent jewellers' just before lunch, where I saw this:

This is my ring, My H2B Had chosen one very similar from Tiffany, but this was from Hatton Garden. Although he had chosen the ring design himself, it was purchased after the proposal because he wanted to make sure I like it. Not the best picture but it's the only one I could find, its a clear diamond on a platinum band.
